First 3.5 tournament win. 2nd pic only happened âcause Nina gave me permission to be douchey.
Itâs impossible for me to not be overly romantic about things, so buckle in. I picked up tennis in 2021, lumbering around at 270lbs, unable to play for 30 minutes straight, much less hit the damn ball with a racquet. But I caught the bug. Hit, record myself, watch videos, compare my form, learn about pronation, supination, kinetic chain, go back out to hit, record, so on and so forth. I felt crazy. Hitting this ball back and forth made me crazy. But what a privilege it is to be crazy about something, anything. To want to go through the grueling process of failure after failure, to gain an inch of success. Life doesnât give you a lot of those. The serendipity of Nina, one random day, wanting to get me out to try tennis with her, and that day handing me a lifelong passion, is not lost on me.
I met fellow crazies along the way. And we hit a ball with a racquet back and forth, twice a week minimum, to try to be the best one at hitting the ball last. Then we get back into position and do it again. And again and again and again. So much so, that our shoulders hurt, our knees creak, and our ankles beg for mercy. And all for what? To be a better amateur? To pay money to compete with fellow amateurs? Yes actually. Thatâs exactly why. Itâs. Crazy.
But itâs the best. I love being an amateur. And I canât wait to be a better one as each year goes by.
@lynnhcao and @oliviawong11 got these hermits out the apartment for a beach day and @thisiskyle took pics of it.

My favorite sister in the whole wide world got married, and I got to officiate the wedding.
Itâs every little brotherâs biggest hope that his noona could find a guy like you Michael. Thank you for loving her the way that you do.
My heart bursts seeing ěë§ and ěëš so happy to see their first child find her partner in life. You are the joy and pride of our family, Jamie noona.
Love you both forever and ever. â¤ď¸
This year was about family, celebrating love, the cats, and being on set with the best people. Couldnât have asked for more.
I stumbled upon something I wrote on New Years, 6 years ago, and I thanked past Dan for it. He responded, âwtf how are you talking to me right now?â
Hope it helps you into 2025 â¤ď¸

People might rag on New Years because itâs just a social construct of the way we document time, because February might be a graveyard for all of our resolutions and aspirations. But if thereâs ever motivation to grow, to change for the better, I say we should protect and nurture that.
We get through life by dreaming, by doing things that push us to evolve. We achieve goals as small as getting through a full work week and as big as starting a new business or venture. And when we achieve them, we create moreâ not just on January 1st, but every single day, whether youâre conscious of it or not. You make goals constantly and you achieve them because you are a resilient, creative, life-filled human being. And youâre only gonna be doing, achieving, more and more this whole new year. Thatâs amazing. Youâre amazing. So donât be so hard on yourself if a month from now (or letâs be real, next week), you end up eating that chocolate cake at 2am. You have the capability and discipline inside of you, somewhere, to change for the better on February 5th. May 27th. October 10th. You just have to dig that shit up from inside you, wherever itâs hiding, and know that on any given day, you are not obligated to think, feel, or act the same way you thought, felt, or acted the day before.
And if you need that benchmark, that âJanuary 1stâ on your calendar, that signaling of a ânew timeâ, then hell yeah. Go get it. As each day, month, year passes, you have the opportunity to be better, more aware, more informed, more emotionally intelligent; to do the things youâve wanted to do, and to work towards the things you want to do in the future. New year mofos đ¤ les get it.
