A story that shocked the world—told in her own words. The Brittney Griner Story, a Sundance film, chronicles Brittney Griner’s journey playing overseas, her harrowing detainment, her determination to come home, and her advocacy for others wrongfully detained. “When I began on The Brittney Griner Story with director Alex Stapleton (@stapletonkas ), I knew we were going to be filming in a variety of scenarios with BG that would require maximum flexibility and an entirely different camera setup depending on the scene. I chose Sony camera bodies because of their consistency of image quality and color rendition throughout the line; selecting the VENICE for the primary interviews and the FX6 for verite, action and additional interviews.” — @evecohendp . This intimate access grounds the film in Brittney Griner’s humanity—a riveting portrait of resilience, anchored by a family who never stopped pushing for her release and that of others. #SonyCine #SonyVENICE2 #SonyFX6

Testing a hard mount rig on the CT 125 while in Joshua Tree and I’m liking the results. As I’m sure you’re aware, hard mount and POV shots have become very popular everywhere and for good reason. I’m a fan. Also, I choose to hard mount the FX6 over smaller cameras when I can because the lack of IBIS gives a more rigid result. More to come! #sonyfx6 #joshuatree #ct125 #learnfilmmaking #sonycine

Director of Photography Zach Kuperstein has honed his craft in the shadows, making his mark on the horror genre with films like The Vigil, Barbarian, and The Eyes of My Mother. Kuperstein returned to the horror genre to lens Buddy, where he developed a three-step process to degrade the digital image of the Sony VENICE 2 and emulate the look of a 90s children’s television show hosted by the tyrannical anthropomorphic unicorn. We spoke with Kuperstein in-depth to unpack the how and why. Read the full article via our stories and the link in our bio. #SonyCine #SonyVENICE

Lewis Kennedy | New York | FX3 “I’ve been using the Sony FX3 for all my travel work and it’s completely changed the way I film. “The compact size of the camera means I can throw it in my bag and take it anywhere, which lets me stay focused on capturing the feeling of each place rather than worrying about the size of the gear weighing me down. I love that it stays out of the way when I’m shooting on the go, but still delivers me the kind of results I’d expect from a much bigger cinema camera. “What excites me most though are the colours! Once I bring the footage into the edit, the FX3 S-Log gives me such a rich, dynamic image to play with. I love being able to shape it in the grade and really pull out the atmosphere of where I’ve been shooting, whether it’s the vibrant energy of a city at night or the softer tones of a calmer landscape, it always feels like I’ve captured more than just an image but the mood of the place.” 🎥: @lewisonfilm #SonyFX3 #ShotOnSony

We came to Yosemite for the Firefalls. The snow had other plans. ❄️ Ended up being a full run-and-gun trip through one of the most insane backdrops we’ve ever shot in, and honestly? We’re not even mad about it. The Sony FX2 just handled everything we threw at it. The IBIS meant we could shoot handheld with telephotos and actually get usable footage. We were running anamorphic and having the de-squeeze happen in-camera for composing correctly. When the snow was blinding us, we all ended up living in the EVF way more than expected. At one point the camera got completely covered in snow and it didn’t even flinch. Just kept shooting. We had the camera mounted on the outside of the car and were controlling focus, exposure and framing from the backseat using the Monitor & Control app while literally driving through the park. Not something we planned on doing but it worked perfectly. Then the sun went down and we pushed the dual base ISO. That night footage speaks for itself. It wasn’t the trip we planned but the FX2 didn’t care. It just kept up with whatever we needed. When’s the last time a trip completely flipped on you? 👇 #SonyCine #SonyFX2 #Filmmaking #BehindTheScenes RunAndGun Ad

Putting sketch comedy on the big screen. Cinematographer Markus Mentzer has built a career in comedy, shaping a visual language that elevates independent film—from I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson, to the indie favorite The Napa Boys. In Plantman & Blondie: A Dress Up Gang Film, Mentzer used the BURANO and FX3 to bring the titular troupe’s comedic sensibilities to the big screen, where the Dress Up Gang crosses paths with The Plantman, a vigilante dedicated to rescuing neglected houseplants. In our chat with Mentzer, we discuss the realities of shooting an indie feature with an ensemble cast, how 90s thrillers influenced the film’s look, and how the BURANO supported the production from start to finish.
