New year, new work with UC San Diego ✨ I didn’t fully understand the scope of their research until we started working on this. Getting inside the labs and meeting the researchers was genuinely inspiring. This has quickly become some of my favorite commercial work to date. “We got to play with some fun tools: an FPV drone, car/bike rigs, zooms, and shutter drag, which brought a lot of energy and vitality to the spot. We shot in a ton of locations, but our shot list was pretty dialed in so we knew exactly what we wanted to capture. We also had Matt Batchelor, an incredible DP, and a Colorado crew that moved fast and stayed positive the entire time. On every intro call ever: what’s your directing style? Me: i like to add dogs to as many scenes as possible😅 I’m kidding. …mostly. Part three of recent work for UC San Diego. In 2025, I got back out there after some serious MOM-ing. ✨ Feeling grateful for every moment on set this year, especially as the industry continues to evolve in uncertain ways. This year I’ve been less focused on the finish line and more on the process — the collaboration, the community, and the people that make it happen. In 2026, I hope for more of the same. UI Health | Power of Care :60 Film We had a few major points of focus for this shoot. 1. Create a sandbox and supportive environment for the talent to perform as authentically as possible. We didn’t want anything to feel forced or too performative. The casting process was hugely important here to find genuine actors with real emotional range. 2. Elevate cinematography with zooms, wipes, and unique camera perspectives. Also, light with intention and craft.
