Last Thursday marked the one year anniversary of the Lahaina wildfire that destroyed over 2,200 structures and took over 100 lives. Our hearts have been heavy the last week - this film is a love letter to the community of Lahaina and we can only hope to be one part of the healing journey 🤍🌺

that I can finally share today🥳
I’m ecstatic to announce that I’ve been named a 2024 PINK with Purpose Project Awardee for the @healinglahainafilm and impact campaign! Nine remarkable changemakers and I are receiving $25,000 each and mentorship for our projects that strengthen community and support mental health.
Thank you to @jedfoundation and @vspink for recognizing the need for this work and giving a spotlight to the stories of Lahaina. I also want to thank my family for trusting me to share their experiences with the world, and @strandedastronaut for all their work to get us here!

About 5 years ago, I had just started my career in climate change and film and made my dream move to LA. The summer before senior year, I worked 2 jobs and an internship to save up in case I didn’t find a job right after graduation.
The first few months after I graduated, I freelanced on several impact campaigns and worked at a restaurant at night until I got hired full time at an impact agency.
When people ask how I like LA, I always say I love it. Even when I was scrubbing toilets at Sweetgreen, I loved LA. The main reason I love LA is the people I’ve met. I never thought I’d get to meet so many like-minded people who are using creativity to help the environment. I also never dreamed of getting the full time jobs I’ve had (mostly because they didn’t exist when I was in college).
Thank you @greenjobsboard@browngirl_green@queerbrownvegan for creating spaces like this that allow people to connect and explore unique jobs that help the planet💚 Had so much fun yapping on this climate storytelling panel with a comedian, artist, TV host, and content creator😄

Over the past year, Healing Lahaina became a bridge connecting stories of loss with pathways toward resilience, and personal grief with collective action.
To everyone who’s been with us since early 2024 supporting the film, uplifting our community partners, sharing your wisdom, or simply holding space, this work exists because of you.
