11.11.22, tend to care, facilitated by meg shoemaker, aaron shaw, noah klein, david moses, and myself, presented by Living Earth & LA Nomadic Division. together, we learned about the natural history of frogtown’s waterway, meditated, sang, and cleaned the river. my intention for this work is to hold space to express our care for ourselves, each other, and the spaces we inhabit. as we do, we collectively cultivate a softer, more tender vision for this world. photos & collage by jeanne heo. videos by dominoe farris. much gratitude to @nomadicdivision & @livingearth.la for believing in my whimsical dreams and helping to ground them into reality.

#VFCAEA spotlight - 𝚗𝚎𝚠 𝚎𝚊𝚛𝚝𝚑 𝟶𝟽 by @lanitrock —— “I’m honored to contribute to the 47th annual Venice Family Clinic Art Exhibition + Auction, alongside so many artists that I admire, in support of this beautiful cause. 𝚗𝚎𝚠 𝚎𝚊𝚛𝚝𝚑 𝟶𝟽 is part of an ongoing series that explores the emergence of a culture of care across the planet, and this shift as part of a broader evolution of consciousness; one that recognizes that the wellbeing of all life in the cosmos is an interdependent & interwoven ecosystem. Our vitality is connected, like bodies of water flowing in and out of each other— our individual health is intimately related to the health of the whole human species, and so as we heal on the local level, that healing ripples out and expands our capacity to heal as a collective — a concept naturally aligned with the vision & mission of @VeniceFamilyClinic ; to improve the health of people and communities through accessible, quality care. See my artwork at the gallery (910 Abbot Kinney, Venice, CA) and bid now online at venicefamilyclinic.org/artauction “ — Artwork details: Lani Trock 𝚗𝚎𝚠 𝚎𝚊𝚛𝚝𝚑 𝟶𝟽, 2019 Porcelain 9 x 8 x 8 inches

This Thursday, 3.5.26 at 7p, I’ll be in dialogue with @jennifer_remenchik at @brandlibrary as part of their Art Talks series. The talk will center on earthdance, a three channel, immersive installation featuring a score by @soft___future — on view now at @armoryarts as part of group exhibition Material Prophecies; Craft as Divination, curated by The Armory Center for the Arts’ Director of Exhibitions, @taylorpatrice 🧡 ~ Inspired by biologist & futurist Elisabeth Sahtouris’ book of the same name, earthdance is a generative, participatory installation that invites the viewer to contemplate the planet as a living ecosystem on an evolutionary journey, and us as her interdependent stewards. Through group somatic practices we embody & facilitate the shift depicted in Sahtouris’ work; the evolution from humanity’s competitive, self-oriented adolescence, into our maturation as a collaborative, ecologically-self-aware species, in conscious co-creation with the dance of life. Visitors are invited to contribute through expressive movement, vocal harmonization, or a quantum deep listening meditation, as conceived of by Pauline Oliveros, reflecting on their unique role & purpose as cohabitants of our sacred, living earth. ~ Immense gratitude to all who contributed to this project 💐 Score mixed by @davidmosessss and mastered by @matthewdavidmcq 🌻 This section’s score by @soft___future features @vontiveros___ @sheets0fsound @lanitrock @davidmosessss @earth__poems @tommasocappellato & #mayrose 🌸 Present in this section of the video are @jeanneannheo @achatouri @destefanobedideluise @clara.moontone #anneliseniño @levarburtonsavedme @_holding.space_ @tiombelockhart @omotola #colehardwick #henrimaddox 🌹

Join us on Thursday, March 5 at 7:00 PM to hear Lani Trock discuss her art practice as part of the Art Talks at Brand series. Lani Trock (b. 1984) is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice centers in harmonious world-building. To awaken the collective imagination and actualize a new operating system for society, she works with organic sculptural materials to cultivate gentle environments, and invites visitors to contemplate from their unique voice and vision, how they would imagine the world at peace. Engaging with art as a spiritual practice, honoring the studio and gallery as spaces of devotion, she builds ephemeral altars and invites collaborators to activate them in joyful co-creation. In communion with her site-specific, immersive installations, she facilitates group expressions of improvisational sound and movement techniques. Trock was born and raised in Hawai’i, and has a BA in Philosophy from UC Santa Cruz. She is a longtime resident of Los Angeles and an active participant in its interwoven art & music communities. This year, she’ll be showing work as part of Material Prophecies; Craft as Divination, at The Armory Center for the Arts in Pasadena, (February 20-August 1) – and then as part of UNFOLD PROJECTS, exhibition 01, at The Institute of Contemporary Art, San Diego, (May 30-August 2). Art Talks at Brand invites contemporary artists to discuss their work and the issues surrounding it, followed by a moderated Q&A with Brand staff member, artist, and writer Jennifer Remenchik. Artists are selected to reflect the diversity of the art scene of the greater Los Angeles area. The series is sponsored by the Brand Associates. All programs are free and open to the public. Arrive early to view the current exhibition, "Neighborhood Ecology.” @lanitrock @associatesofbrand 📷: Artist portrait inside her installation harmonic convergence, shown as part of group exhibition Storm Before the Calm, in 2022 at Praz-Delavallade. Material Prophecies: Craft as Divination opens 2.20-8.1 at @armoryarts 🌀 curated by @taylorpatrice 💐 i’m showing a new conception of 𝚎𝚊𝚛𝚝𝚑𝚍𝚊𝚗𝚌𝚎 as a generative, participatory, 3 channel immersive installation with a score by @soft___future featuring @davidmosessss @lanitrock @she_govinda @vontiveros___ @earth__poems @sheets0fsound @tommasocappellato & May Rose Smeback 🌸 Mixed by @davidmosessss & Mastered by @matthewdavidmcq ☀️ This clip features @summer.bowie & @buckleynow 🌊 thank you to everyone who has inspired and contributed to this work coming to life! thank you Taylor for the invitation to participate ~ it’s an honor to share space alongside beautiful works from @jackieamezquita @aprilbey_ @calethiadecontostudio @turboglitchy @nicanahuac @vanessalgerman & @shifty_shellmound ~ Material Prophecies: Craft as Divination brings together eight artists who turn to craft to divine memory, enact ritual, and seek knowledge of the future. Working with earth, fiber, metal, cyanotype, terracotta, and film, they carry ways of understanding the world passed through generations, giving form to what is felt, inherited, and unseen. Through these practices, material becomes both medium and oracle, connecting with Spirit, place, and ancestral knowledge. Rooted in the San Gabriel Valley, where cycles of wildfire, floods, winds, and regrowth shape the landscape, the exhibition reflects on time as nonlinear and ever returning. The artist’s works echo these rhythms, suggesting that transformation is both inevitable and generative, and that materials remember across distance and lineage.

An evening filled with sonic bliss sure to make your heart sing just a few days before Valentines Day. Maybe tonight is where you’ll ask them to be your valentines <3 About the artists... Sharada Shashidhar and Caleb Buchanan are a Los Angeles-based musical duo known as Two Point, specializing in improvised, genre-fluid music blending jazz, ambient, and electronic textures. They are active in the local scene, featuring vocals from Shashidhar—trained in traditional Indian music. Nicolas & Susana create improvisational soundscapes influenced by nature’s beauty. With vocals, saxophone, percussion, and electronics, they create immersive musical ecosystems. Their music explores imagined worlds, ethereal realms and subtle rhythms, like bird songs in a forest. soft future is an ephemeral music collective stewarded by Lani Trock and David Moses. The group’s central intention is to transcend limits and touch spirit. Their performances are improvisational, multi-sensory journeys, activating the language of music as a transmitter of universal consciousness. Often participatory in nature, their work invites audience members to co-create together, opening portals to imaginal worlds and new dimensions.
