Del Vaz Projects x Getty Research Institute
Tastemakers: Ram Dass
Sunday, December 21, 2025, 6 PM (Winter Solstice)
The second of two programs presented in partnership between Del Vaz Projects and the Getty Research Institute will feature Ram Dass’s Cookbook for a Sacred Life. Published by the Lama Foundation the year before Dass’s famed book on spiritual awakening, Be Here Now, the “recipes” in his 1970 cookbook do not list ingredients or preparation instructions, but rather offer philosophical and ritual guidelines for how eating informs and nourishes the soul, as the body “is our temple where we live and where we do the work of becoming enlightened,” (17). A celebration of the winter solstice, the evening will highlight a shared, plant-based meal led by Anjali Deva
@anjalidevaayurveda , Southern California-based Ayurvedic practitioner and Founder of
@rootedrasa , who will guide dinner guests through contemplative, communal conversations inspired by Ram Dass’s teachings on presence, compassion, and interconnectedness. The dinner will include a live meditative soundscape by
@soft___future , an experimental ensemble blending generative and environmental sound.
Del Vaz Projects’ exhibitions, publications, and public programming are made possible through support from The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, The Teiger Foundation, The City of Santa Monica Cultural Affairs, and the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, Department of Arts and Culture.
