🎥Watch our new video featuring Corpsmember Alumni Art Barreto. Art first learned about the Corps more than 30 years ago from Alex Lopez, our Senior Program Director of Conservation Programs. At the time, Alex was a young crew supervisor and a former Corpsmember himself. Alex and Art grew up together in East LA, supporting one another along the way. They also came up through the Corps side by side, an experience that changed their lives forever. Art went on to join the U.S. Forest Service, where he served for more than 20 years. Alex remained with the Corps and worked his way up to the leadership role he holds today. Art shared how remarkable it is that the Corps has been helping communities and young people for 40 years. As we celebrate this 40th Anniversary milestone year, we’re proud to continue highlighting examples of how the Corps has transformed communities and changed lives. Both Art and Alex credit the Corps as a turning point in their lives, and we believe they exemplify everything the Corps stands for. Join us in celebrating their accomplishments and thanking Art for his service as a Fire Captain protecting our national parks. #Mentorship #JobTraining #Corps

Meet LA Conservation Corps Alum and United States Congresswoman Luz Rivas (@repluzrivas )! Congresswoman Rivas is a former Clean & Green participant and the first Latina to represent California’s 29th Congressional District, located in the San Fernando Valley. Her story is an inspiration to us all and proves that the sky is the limit for our Corpsmembers. We’re proud of LA Conservation Corps alum and Congresswoman Luz Rivas, and grateful to her for recently visiting our West Valley site and speaking with our Corpsmembers! She spoke to Corpsmembers about how the Corps impacted her life and shared advice on how they can make the most of their time in the program. #HouseofRepresentatives #Congress #Inspiration

For 40 years, the Los Angeles Conservation Corps has transformed lives, strengthened communities, and helped build a greener, more equitable Los Angeles County by investing in young people and creating pathways to purpose, self sufficiency, and public service. Yesterday, I was profoundly honored to stand alongside City of LA Council women @monicarodriguezla in receiving the Conservation Champion Award. This recognition is deeply personal because it reflects the work I have committed my career to: fighting for parks, open space, and environmental justice in communities that have too often been overlooked and underserved. The hardest park projects are never just about land — they are about people. They are about giving children safe places to play, families places to gather, and neighborhoods the dignity that comes with green space and investment. Through every challenge, the @lacorps has been a fearless partner to @lacountyparks , taking on some of the most difficult park projects and helping deliver lasting green-change for our communities. Thank you @drtmuzac for this incredible honor, and for your unwavering commitment to the next generation and the future of Los Angeles County.

🌟 Yesterday was a special day as we celebrated the LA Conservation Corps’ 40th Anniversary Luncheon alongside friends, partners, supporters, and Corpsmembers, past and present. Last week, our CEO, Tamara Muzac-Bravo, Ph.D., Deputy Director of Conservation Programs, Bo Savage, and Senior Program Director, Alex Lopez, traveled to Washington, D.C., to accept the 2026 Project of the Year Award from The Corps Network on behalf of the LA Conservation Corps. The award recognized the Watershed Recovery Efforts following the Palisades and Eaton Fires that the LA Corps carried out in alignment with partner corps and organizations. We’d like to extend a huge thank you to The Corps Network (@thecorpsnetwork ) for welcoming us and recognizing the hard work of our staff and Corpsmembers in helping Los Angeles recover from the fires. While there is still more work to do, we remain committed to helping our communities heal. #Corps #ProjectOfTheYear #Recovery

📸Check out these photo highlights from our recent second annual career fair at the Ford (@thefordla )! 80 Corpsmembers had the opportunity to connect with 20 employers from a wide range of industries. Our annual job fair at the Ford is a great opportunity for Corpsmembers to explore meaningful career paths by directly engaging with hiring professionals. For many Corpsmembers, this event marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter in their careers. A huge thank-you to the Ford Theatre for helping make this event possible, and to our Corpsmember Development Team (CMD) for organizing such a wonderful gathering. We’re proud to offer our Corpsmembers so many incredible career pathway opportunities, and grateful to the employers in attendance for playing such a vital role in making that possible. #JobFair #JobTraining

Thank you to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors (@LACountyBOS ) for recognizing our 40th anniversary. Last week, Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda L. Solis (@hildasolis ) honored the LA Conservation Corps at the Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration in Downtown LA in celebration of our 40th Anniversary. The Supervisor presented a hand-painted scroll to the Corps’ CEO, Tamara Muzac-Bravo, as staff, board members and Corpsmember representatives gathered in support. The Corps has a long history of making a meaningful impact in Supervisor Solis’ district and across Los Angeles County including building trails, improving parks, cleaning streets, and repairing sidewalks. We are grateful for our partnership with Supervisor Solis and the entire LA County Board of Supervisors and look forward to continuing our work to help keep the County beautiful while ensuring young people have access to quality jobs. #LACounty #SupervisorSolis

✨ Cheers to 40 years! Our 40th Anniversary Evening Reception was truly an inspiring night! It was wonderful to come together with partners, supporters, and past and present board members and celebrate 40 years of impact, changing lives and creating a cleaner, greener future for the greater Los Angeles area. We heard powerful remarks from our new CEO, Tamara Muzac-Bravo, Ph.D., honoring our history and laying the groundwork for the path ahead. We also honored our past leaders: Mickey Kantor – Founder Martha Diepenbrock – First Executive Director Bruce Saito – Second Executive Director Wendy Butts – Immediate Past Chief Executive Officer Each received a Golden Helmet Leadership Award in recognition of the lasting impact they’ve had on the organization. One of our East LA Corpsmembers, Damien Phillips, shared his story during the event. He inspired us all and reminded us of the transformative power of our work. Here’s to 40 more years! #Anniversary #40Years #ChangingLives

Today, more than 2,500 families received fresh food, including pet food, through a drive-thru distribution I hosted in partnership with @myelmonte , @lafoodbank , and @foundanimals . I am deeply grateful to the volunteers who made this effort possible and ensured every family was served with care and dignity. Information on upcoming food distributions next month will be shared soon!

As we wrap up Earth Month and celebrate 40 years this month, we are pleased to shine a light on a longtime Friend of the Corps Councilmember Bob Blumenfield (@bobblumenfield )! Councilmember Blumenfield has a long history of partnering with the Corps to support the communities he represents. Each morning, our West Valley Corpsmembers and staff report to our Corps office, which is located within part of his office in Reseda. He is a longtime champion, advocate, and supporter of our work, and relies on our crews because he understands that the Corps not only gets things done, but also empowers young people along the way. Thank you, Councilmember, for believing in our mission and for working with us to improve the San Fernando Valley, Council District 3, and the greater Los Angeles area. #SanFernandoValley #CouncilmemberBlumenfield #Spotlight
