As we approach the anniversary of the opening of the San Gabriel Valley’s first @countyofla aquatic center, I’m reminded how personal this project is to me.
Growing up in unincorporated West Puente Valley and attending the former Temple Elementary School that once stood on this site, I saw firsthand how many families lacked access to safe places to learn to swim and stay active. Today, this center is a promise kept for our community and future generations.
Exciting progress over at @thebroadmuseum with today’s topping out ceremony! This expansion, set to open in 2028 will nearly double the artworks on display, offering new experiences like outdoor courtyards and plazas — one named in my honor — and much more.
As Supervisor for the First District and a longtime champion of the arts, I’m proud to support institutions like The Broad in shaping our community’s cultural identity and economic vibrancy, all while maintaining free general admission.
Today, 2,000 families received food kits through a drive-thru distribution I hosted in partnership with @baldwinpark_cagov and @lafoodbank .
I’m deeply grateful to the volunteers who made this effort possible once again and ensured every family was served with care and dignity. In challenging times, community support like this makes a real difference.
Information about upcoming food distributions later this month will be shared soon!
Across the @countyofla , residents and healthcare professionals have shared deep concern about the presence of federal immigration enforcement activity in hospitals, clinics, and other medical facilities. My motion today will help ensure County employees have clear guidance and protocols in place so our hospitals and healthcare setting are safe, trusted, and accessible spaces for all who rely on them.

No student should have to choose between staying enrolled and having a safe place to sleep or enough food to eat. That’s why I allocated $500,000 to @riohondo_college to expand housing stability and basic needs services for students facing housing insecurity and food instability.
This investment will help ensure students have the support they need to remain in school, complete their education, and build a stronger future for themselves and their families. Together, we are creating pathways to opportunity and delivering meaningful support to those who need it most.
This Mother’s Day, I’m holding close the memory of my beloved mother, Juana. Her strength, compassion, and sacrifices shaped the person I am today and continue to guide me every day.
While I deeply miss her presence, I carry her love and lessons with me always. Today, I honor her and all mothers, especially those whose love continues to live on in our hearts and memories. 💐
Honored to host my annual reception during opening weekend at the LA County Fair with residents, civic leaders, and stakeholders from the First District. Since being elected Supervisor, this celebration has been a special tradition each year, and hosting this reception as I close out my tenure made this year especially meaningful.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make it such a memorable and joyful day.
Proud to join tonight’s night market in @southelmontecitygov , where more than 1,000 residents came together to enjoy great food, local vendors, and a vibrant evening of community connection.
I was also able to support this effort by allocating $4,000 in partnership with @cultivala1 to distribute fresh produce and canned goods to families in attendance.
Events like this reflect what makes our communities strong, bringing neighbors together while uplifting local small businesses and ensuring families have access to essential resources.
Proud to recognize @lacountyfair for more than a century of bringing communities together and creating unforgettable memories!
This year’s Fair runs May 7 through May 31 under the theme “Play Your Way,” with something for everyone, from thrilling carnival rides and live music to culinary showcases, agricultural exhibits, and family-friendly fun.
This Saturday, May 9 is the 20th Annual Los Angeles County Day at the Fair with discounted tickets available. I encourage everyone to come out and enjoy the festivities!
I was proud to welcome the Driving the Vote for Equality Tour to @grandpark .
A historic 1914 Saxon roadster stood as a reminder of a cross-country campaign for voting rights and equal protection under the law for women.
More than a century later, that work remains unfinished. The Equal Rights Amendment has met the constitutional threshold, yet it still has not been formally recognized.
We owe it to those who came before us and to future generations to finish the work!
I’m proud to proclaim May 2026 as Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month! Nearly 1.5 million AAPI residents call @countyofla home, from Chinatown and Little Tokyo to Koreatown, the San Gabriel Valley, the South Bay, and unincorporated communities such as Rowland Heights and Hacienda Heights.
This month, we celebrate the history, culture, and contributions of our AAPI communities and reaffirm our commitment to support them today and always.
Our diversity is our strength, and together we move Los Angeles County forward.
Across the street from @lageneralmed , I’m turning vision into action.
In partnership with @centuryhousing , we’re building 296 affordable homes for people experiencing homelessness, low-income residents, and older adults.
Phase 1 with 146 homes is underway and opens next year, including a 12-bed Peer Respite Program. Phase 2 with 150 homes begins this summer, adding housing for older adults and a training kitchen and café.
These 296 homes are part of nearly 10,000 affordable units I’ve worked to advance during my tenure as Supervisor.
Housing is healthcare, stability, and dignity, and I’m committed to delivering it.
