KSTI HU My Fur Under Your Skin, 2025. Performance (presented on the opening night, 9 October 2025), Performance Installation: carpet, moss, silicone, Artefact: silicone, moss skin 300×200×5 cm, 60×40×10 cm. My Fur Under Your Skin is a live performance by Ksti Hu, developed from her multimedia project 20kg of Me. Presented at the CONCEPTUAL Biennale, it continues the artist’s exploration of identity, belonging, and the search for arrival from a Komi perspective. The Komi are an Indigenous people of the Russian North, with an ancient Uralic language and Europe’s largest primeval forests as their homeland—an environment both resilient and vulnerable under colonial and extractive pressures. Drawing on moss and ice as symbols of endurance and memory, Hu situates her practice within this landscape and its ongoing invisibility in contemporary contexts. Rather than illustrating a narrative, the performance functions as an embodied threshold between geographies and histories, transforming materials of protection into agents of vulnerability and self-definition. It invites the audience to witness a fragile, provisional act of re-rooting and reimagining identiy. Elle travaille la vidéo, la VR et la sculpture 3D pour explorer comment l’absence, l’invisibilité et l’obstruction peuvent devenir matière. En combinant méthodes documentaires et stratégies artistiques, KSTI HU crée des installations et films qui tracent les approches et échecs liés à des savoirs occultés. Sa pratique aborde l’invisibilité historique et actuelle des Komis arctiques, traduisant histoires orales et savoirs incarnés en formes tangibles, tout en affrontant la peur induite par l’État, les pratiques de silence et les traumatismes intergénérationnels. Berlin-based artist, born and raised in Komi, working with video, VR, and 3D sculpture to explore how absence, invisibility, and obstruction can become material. Combining documentary methods with artistic strategies, KSTI HU creates installations and films tracing approaches and failures in relation to untold knowledge. «Proof of Existence» — une nouvelle exposition du collectif artistique Corooted à Paris. 📍 Galerie d’art indépendante L’Aléatoire (29 Rue de Bièvre, Paris) 🗓 24 octobre – 2 novembre Vernissage : 24 octobre, 19h – 23h L’exposition interroge ce qui façonne notre identité aujourd’hui, ce qui restera après la mondialisation culturelle, et ce qui peut être considéré comme une preuve de notre existence. [//////] Avec le développement des technologies et l’intensification de la mondialisation, le processus d’homogénéisation culturelle devient de plus en plus visible et rapide, entraînant les cultures locales vers la transformation, voire la disparition. Dans le même temps, des traces de notre diversité persistent. Avec "Proof of Existence", nous cherchons à les saisir, en réfléchissant à ce qui façonne notre réalité présente, à ce qui se cache dans ses zones d’ombre, et à ce qui subsiste comme témoignage de notre existence — dans toutes nos différences et similitudes. Les artistes présentés s’inspirent de leur expérience personnelle et de leurs observations. À l’intersection de la recherche et de la réflexion apparaissent des éléments nourris à la fois par la culture locale et mondiale, par des questions d’identité personnelle, ainsi que par des contextes historiques et politiques. Perfomance „Unskinned“ von Ksti Hu x Trevor Doherty zur Eröffnung der Ausstellung „PostOst Re:Vision“ (bis zum 31.08. im Kunstraum hase29, Osnabrück) Ksti Hus künstlerische Praxis bewegt sich an der Schnittstelle von nicht vorhandener Erinnerung, körperlichem Wissen und nie erlernter Sprache. Ausgehend von ihrer arktischen Herkunftsregion, geprägt von Kälte und Abgeschiedenheit, untersucht @kstihu die Transformation kultureller Spuren unter Bedingungen von Verlust, Überlagerung und Nichtwissen. Die Verwendung von Naturmaterialien wie weißem Moos, Eis und Holz ist Teil ihrer Methodik. Medien erscheinen in ihren Werken nicht als Mittel, sondern als Zustände, in denen Zugehörigkeit, Sprache und Macht neu verhandelt werden.
