CHARLOTTE THORN (AT)
FRI, 13 JUNE & SAT, 14 JUNE 2025 | Zunder Festival | St. Bartlmä, special location
@lottethorn_ | @kitschglitch is a media artist and filmmaker based in Innsbruck. Deriving from architecture, she dissolves the boundaries between physical and digital space—creating immersive, ephemeral environments through film, generative imagery, and interactive technology. At the heart of her practice lies a fascination with human–machine interaction and its impact on the spaces we shape and inhabit. Her installations often anchor themselves in geographical realities, yet unfold into speculative, posthuman futures.
Brine Water Shrimp is an immersive multimedia installation and live performance by Charlotte Thorn, unfolding in the speculative future landscapes of West Texas. Through layers of film, generative visuals, reactive sound, and human–machine feedback loops, the piece conjures a world where boundaries melt—between human and nonhuman, dream and data, memory and mutation, fact and fiction.

!! West Texas faces an environmental disaster !! with countless abandoned oil wells leaking radioactive brine, poisonous gas and crude oil. These orphan wells endanger local ecosystems and communities, with urgent action needed to address the damage.
“The Spirits We Summoned” follows fierce lawyer Sarah in her battle against multinational giant Chevron. A toxic mix of radioactive brine, poisonous gas, and crude oil seeps into the soil, air, and water, threatening life in the far west of Texas. Sarah’s mission: to hold Chevron accountable for the devastating environmental damage on ranchers’ lands caused by hundreds of abandoned oil wells under the company’s ownership.
