Die Installation PIECES OF BRIAN von JOYH Design zelebriert neue Formen des Raums, der Materialinnovation und des Engagements für die Umwelt. „BRIAN“ steht für „Behavioral, Responsive, Innovative, Adaptive, and Nurturing“ und bezeichnet ein mit 3D-Sand gedrucktes Bauteil, das nicht nur ein Objekt, sondern ein lebendes System ist. „BRIAN“ ist Teil eines forschungsorientierten Designprojekts, das Gebäudehüllen durch die Integration von lokalem Sand, additiver Fertigung und fortschrittlichem digitalem Design neu konzipiert, um thermisch reagierende Wände zu schaffen. Diese bieten eine nachhaltige Alternative zu den übermäßig komplexen Fassaden der modernen Architektur. Die Muster wurden in Zusammenarbeit mit den Technologiepartner*innen Voestalpine und Sandhelden hergestellt. Together we will present one of the worlds largest architectural 3D-sand printed, self supporting & load bearing walls! Consisting of 40 modular and interlocking building blocks that explore how physical, digital and cultural infrastructures evolve, persist, and are reimagined through time, material and design. We can’t wait to reveal more of BRIAN and more exciting collaborations behind it. The sculpture seeks agency through the entwining of data and matter. As an exploration into a future notion of ecologies it aims to evoke curiosity by revealing the omni presence of the climatic downfall through its potential reconciliation. The proposal embraces a design approach founded on the implementation of computational and data-driven technologies intended to investigate and contribute to the pertinent conversation surrounding design and ecology whilst formulating novel procedural methods, fusion of human and machine intelligence, to craft harmonious and elegant strategies for co-creation.
