☁️ DISTANT REALITIES (berlin) (MARINE LEMARIÉ & NICOLAS STEPHAN) TECHNOLOGICAL IMAGINATION tuesday, december 16, 2025 – 15h talk @raumklasse_udk entwurfsbereich raumbezogenes entwerfen und ausstellungsgestaltung raum 105/106, medienhaus, udk berlin how can technology reveal new ways of engaging with our environment? through speculative design, 3d media, and computational workflows, we explore how space can be created and experienced differently. rooted in research-based practice, our work weaves ecology, politics, and technology to illuminate hidden realities. our latest project merges vegetation mapping, machine learning, and infrared imagery to create a temporal capture of a landscape, showing how design and technology generate new modes of seeing and storytelling. distant realities is a berlin-based design studio founded by marine lemarié and nicolas stephan. their work spans video installations, theoretical research, and interactive platforms, drawing on backgrounds in architecture, urban theory, and speculative design. they have participated in programs such as medialab matadero madrid and the terraforming at the strelka institute. distant realities has exhibited in austria, los angeles, and barcelona, and presented internationally at institutions including the university of innsbruck, beijing institute of fashion technology, caup tongji, va[a]ds tbilisi, and the university of pennsylvania. www.distant-realities.eu @distant___realities ____ raumklasse talks – winter 2025_26 CONCRETE & FEATHERS concrete & feathers unfolds between weight and lightness, permanence and fragility. how can heaviness cradle fragility, how can solidity meet lightness – and how can fragile materials bear unexpected strength? taking place in kunstraum potsdamer straße @kunstraumdigital – a raw fragment of 1970s concrete architecture – the students of raumklasse develop experimental spatial works exploring materiality and (im)materiality. realised in collaboration with studierendenwerk berlin, represented by claudia brieske and isa zappe. photos_ distant realities I @distant___realities poster / graphic design: @fruehschicht1312

✨ herzliche einladung! rundgang udk berlin 18. - 20. juli 2025 opening medienhaus 18. juli 2025 16-23h 🟣 figural tectonics in this seminar, we explored the transformation of graphic elements into three-dimensional, physical objects. starting from line drawings and patterns, we investigated how two-dimensional design languages could evolve into spatial structures. we placed emphasis on how graphic intent could inform material logic, joinery, and assembly. our projects centered on the act of making as a conceptual process - lines became seams, patterns became spaces. we approached digital fabrication not merely as a means of final production, but as part of an iterative design methodology that moved fluidly between the digital and the physical. students_ louis baurmann, maciej böhm, chia-chi chen, lars sorger, nelly moeller, penelope hehl, hikari tanaka, seoyoung park, milli keil, bianca martsch a seminar by nicolas stephan, lecturer / 3d modelling - raumklasse rundgang medienhaus 1st floor, hallway in front of r 105/106 — raumklasse – summer 2025 SUPERGRAPHICS supergraphics‘ emerged in the 1960/70s as an architectural movement that challenged traditional concepts of space, form, and structure by integrating large-scale graphics into the interiors and exteriors of buildings. spatial boundaries are dissolved by extending graphics across walls, floors, ceilings and other architectural elements, blurring the lines between architecture & graphic design and to transform spaces through movement & bodily experiences. our semester project is a collaboration with mt tape / japan. we will experiment with washi tape and develop graphic spatial installations to be realized in 1:1. a joint mt laboratory, workshop and an exhibition that took place at aedes metropolitan lab berlin (ancb) and modulor berlin in april and may 2025.

Carbon Scenarios is an interactive fuzzy map and our second prototype for a carbon sink modeling software. It is based on publicly available remote sensing and carbon data. It helps to understand how much carbon is already stored in natural carbon sinks (forests and swamps). Later on, it will speculate on possible policy modifications, and run simulations to optimize the biomass’s storage capacity. The interactive setup lets you learn about regeneration and carbon offsetting to meet political climate goals. Full demo: /834359675?share=copy
