We’re pleased to announce the artists who will be working with us on WORK Records, a creative heritage project exploring historic working lives across the East Midlands. Kate Anderson (@kateandersonjack ), Kim Noce (@kimnoce ), and Saul Pankhurst (@saul_pankhurst ), will be working as part of “investigative” teams, alongside heritage curators, historians, artists, current and former workers and volunteers. They will be exploring the holdings of three heritage collections – Derbyshire Record Office, Corby Heritage Centre and John Smedley Archive – to discover what they can tell us about working lives at three family firms: John Smedley at Lea Mills, packaging firm Robinson and Sons in Chesterfield, and steel manufacturer Stewarts & Lloyds Ltd in Corby. Also joining the WORK Records team are Vicky Washington (Project Manager), Stefan Ramsden (Historian), and Amanda King @amandakingart (Evaluator). Light of the Heart’s Home Exhibition film — opening & making-of Capturing the collaborative exhibition of Kim Noce (Nature’s Calligraphy) and U. A few weeks on from the Frames of Solidarity workshop, sharing the final short animation made by participants in response to I’M LIKE A FISH, AND FIERCE LIKE A LION, WHEN I ENTER THE RING OF FIRE, the exhibition of drawings and written testimonies by children in Gaza. Led by Kim Noce, the workshop culminated in this collective piece. Music: “Haniin” by Samer Totah, from the album Ghofran (2005).

April is Stress Awareness Month, so today we invite you to slow down and take a moment to watch this clip from the immersive animated documentary ‘Cities of Ladies’ @citiesofladies by Kim Noce @Kimnoce With recording and production taking place during the COVID-19 pandemic, ‘Cities of Ladies’ features 25 voices from 16 different countries giving their thoughts on what it means to be human and how to create a better world. It is a poetic documentary that explores, and acknowledges, the importance of personal viewpoint and individual ideologies of hope and for change.
