Out of Nowhere – Andi, @max_thomasberger@spec.digital , Ira Wedel, Liz Purnell, @abbabaddison , Liz Purnell and me – got an award (in the shape of a huge kaleidoscope) from the brilliant science film crowd at @afo_olomouc 🙌
I don’t think our VR experience is a classic example of science communication, but maybe thats a good thing!? We’ve woven the insights from ecologists and climate scientists into a personal account of a devastating extreme weather event and gently point towards nature based solutions. ‘If we protect nature, she’ll protect us.’ is a pretty straight-forward concept.

Another VR experience, another forest 🌳
We collaborated with @bearsanctuary.belitsa last year to create a short visceral VR experience that highlights the contrast between a bear’s natural habitat and the prisons we used to force them into for our entertainment.
Bears have been abused as dancing bears, as part of the circus or as restaurant bears - all awful practices that have largely gone from Europe now. Thanks in part to the work of organisation like @fourpaws.bg and @fondationbrigittebardot
‚HOME‘ is on display at a newly opened exhibition at the visitor centre in Belitsa @bearsanctuary.belitsa - one of a group of wonderful species-appropriate sanctuaries @fourpaws.international has established all over the globe ❤️

從作者家鄉孟加拉的天候變化中，看見生命的動態美。故事取自作者在因病癱瘓的一年間，透過凝視天空的色彩與演變，轉化出這場對自然力量的敬畏之讚美詩。
This work celebrates the ever-changing beauty and dynamic nature of the sky, the arrival of the monsoon, and its profound significance to the artist's homeland, Bangladesh. Naima’s fascination with natural forces stems from a period of temporary paralysis caused by a virus for over a year. She spent her time in awe, staring at the sky as colors and forms morphed above her.

以氣候變遷為背景，引領觀眾追隨約旦河，穿梭於聖河的史前濕地與現代人類文明兩者之間的衝突前線，參與者將透過一顆水珠感受兩千萬年來地殼動盪與生命的交匯。
Set against the backdrop of climate change, this experience leads participants to follow the Jordan River, now on the front lines of environmental destruction and human conflict. Participants find themselves in a deep underground aquifer where a soft blue glow—the 20-million-year-old memory of a single water drop—guides them through time.

以奧地利哈萊因居民 Anna 的雙眼，回望 2021 年席捲歐洲的毀滅性洪水。作品溫柔探討保護沼澤與濕地，如何讓我們應對極端氣候。
Told through the eyes of Anna, a lifelong resident of Hallein, Austria, the experience flows from her personal memories of the devastating floods that hit Europe in 2021. This work takes a gentle perspective to explore how preserving alluvial forests, marshes, and wetlands can help us face the increasingly violent and unpredictable challenges of climate change.

Bit of a strange time to go to the US, but also kind of the best time to go to Austin with the film we made.
Out of Nowhere tells a personal story about the floods that hit Austria and large parts of Europe in 2021. But it’s also a universal story about nature‘s inherent ability to protect us from the worst consequences of climate change.
Texas suffered greatly from a devastating flood last summer, so it means a lot to have our US premiere there.

More than most other European countries (more than Austria for sure ..) France invests and believes in VR as a medium for film and arts, so I’m very grateful to be a part of these festivals.

The world seems to get worse every year, but my own 2025 was pretty amazing.
Worked with two awesome actresses – Martina Spitzer and Saskia Reeves . Found a mountain full of blueberries and the darkest, high moors I’ve seen. Drove around country lanes with my favourite people. Met brilliant women. Started working with the fab team at Unframed Collection and maybe best of all – Out of Nowhere seemed to have been everywhere since its premiere at Venice ❤️
