Fedra Display Arabic and Latin in use for the poster series of the Arabic Lettering Workshop (ALW). ALW is a workshop series that began in 2012, with 21 episodes held so far around the world. Each episode explores a different theme, accompanied by a poster visualizing that theme. ALW is a project by @khajag (Khajag Apelian), Wael Morcos (@waelmorcos ) and our own Kristyan (@kristyansarkis ). We are super excited to share the Arabic and mark the beginning of a series of language extensions to make CoFo Sans even more versatile. Try, use, repeat — link in bio. CoFo Sans is a clean sans serif with a soul. It’s simple, but not bland. Built on a balance of rational structure and expressive detail, it avoids strict geometry or a single model. Slight squareness and a hint of industrial tone give it clarity without losing personality. The new version CoFo Sans Pro offers eight carefully drawn weights. It comes with our largest character set so far: Extended Latin, Cyrillic, Vietnamese, and now Arabic. The Arabic extension follows its own traditions while keeping the overall tone of the family. Designed with digital use in mind, CoFo Sans Pro works across screens, from interfaces and apps to long text. Its structure is built to grow, with future support planned for scripts like Devanagari, Hebrew, Georgian, and Armenian. Continuing our GRANSHAN community series highlighting voices shaping global type culture, we’re pleased to introduce Khajag Apelian — a lettering artist, type designer and graphic designer whose work bridges Armenian, Arabic, and Latin scripts. Khajag’s profound affinity for languages and writing systems largely stems from a mix of his Armenian heritage and multicultural upbringing between Dubai and Beirut. He channels said affinity into creating award-winning typefaces across various scripts (Arabic, Armenian, Latin) and collaborating with several type foundries and design studios worldwide. Passionate about cultural expression and artistic exploration, Today, Khajag operates under the name debakir (Armenian for “printed type”).
