A HUGE mega thank you to everyone who braved yesterday's crazy weather to come and commune with us for our panel: The Future of Fashion: Contemporary Craft & Cross-Sector Collaboration A huge thank you to @century_soho and @rositacup for giving me (and @thelabw1 ) the time and space to build momentum behind this mission to hold space for the changemakers in fashion & craft, with our event series for 2026. Building on the momentum and the narrative we kicked off for #LondonFashionWeek in February with @dilys.williams (founder @sustfash ), @tinawetshi (@_colechi ), @c.q.studio (Cassie Quinn) and Melanie Menczykowski (@wolfandbadger )... Yesterday for #LondonCraftWeek I had the pleasure and the privilege of threading together a THRILLING conversation and soul nourshing discussion with @carrysomers (co-founder, @fash_rev ), @nat_melton (Exec Dir. @craftscouncil ), @alexandralunnstudio (@_well_crafted_ ) and @katymasonstudio . I first met Carry when I interviewed her about her Citizen Science project "Restorying Riverscapes" and her Fashion Revolution textiles garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower show for @fthtsi in 2022. This body of work and research transformed my life and placemaking portfolio - which led to the #RegenerativeByDesign cultural programme in #TheLabE20 and accelerated my mission to bring the worlds of urban regeneration, fashion, craft regenerative design & architecture - under one roof. These threads have became the pillars of what is now the @shoreditchworkslondon and the Oxford St/ 33 Cavendish Sq masterplans. Pulling all these threads together - between craft, fashion, rewilding our high streets and placeshaping to restore our ecosystems - I am REALLY looking forward to sharing the projects @thelabw1 will be supporting in the coming months as part of our six year cultural programme: HOMEGROWN. 📸 Also pleased to report last night's conversations continued offstage, downstairs and well into the night after I left to go to bed - and I can assure you - with the people in this room I am looking forward to collaborating with you all again in the very near future. Assembling and bringing together forgotten parts ourselves while weaving together a social fabric for collective healing. A truly joyful day blessed by the weather Gods. Weaving together up-cycling and arts therapy… This is the chance to make Your own very very special Talisman…that can come in many forms…so feel free to bring any ideas or materials with you….if there’s an idea you’ve been sitting on for a while bring that too! This is an opportunity to be held in a creative relaxed and therapeutic space whilst selecting (or bringing anything that you like) objects that you are drawn to or inspired by or trigger a memory…and assembling these together into forms such as keychains, earrings, brooches or a small sculpture. Creative Therapy in Nature: Make Your Own Talisman Join us for a grounding and creative experience connecting nature, intuition and self-expression. A talisman is an object that is thought to have magical powers and to bring good luck. We will begin with a guided meditation to connect you with your safe space, inner protector and guide. Through this reflective practice, you’ll explore the qualities, energy and presence of this inner force. We will use mindfully foraged natural materials such as twigs, leaves, plants and flowers, as well as found objects recycled from old draws, cabinets and scrapyards. Using these foraged elements, you’ll create your own talisman; a personal object that represents protection and safety. This process is intuitive and open, allowing your creativity to flow freely.
