A HUGE mega thank you to everyone who braved yesterday's crazy weather to come and commune with us for our panel: The Future of Fashion: Contemporary Craft & Cross-Sector Collaboration A huge thank you to @century_soho and @rositacup for giving me (and @thelabw1 ) the time and space to build momentum behind this mission to hold space for the changemakers in fashion & craft, with our event series for 2026. Building on the momentum and the narrative we kicked off for #LondonFashionWeek in February with @dilys.williams (founder @sustfash ), @tinawetshi (@_colechi ), @c.q.studio (Cassie Quinn) and Melanie Menczykowski (@wolfandbadger )... Yesterday for #LondonCraftWeek I had the pleasure and the privilege of threading together a THRILLING conversation and soul nourshing discussion with @carrysomers (co-founder, @fash_rev ), @nat_melton (Exec Dir. @craftscouncil ), @alexandralunnstudio (@_well_crafted_ ) and @katymasonstudio . I first met Carry when I interviewed her about her Citizen Science project "Restorying Riverscapes" and her Fashion Revolution textiles garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower show for @fthtsi in 2022. This body of work and research transformed my life and placemaking portfolio - which led to the #RegenerativeByDesign cultural programme in #TheLabE20 and accelerated my mission to bring the worlds of urban regeneration, fashion, craft regenerative design & architecture - under one roof. These threads have became the pillars of what is now the @shoreditchworkslondon and the Oxford St/ 33 Cavendish Sq masterplans. Pulling all these threads together - between craft, fashion, rewilding our high streets and placeshaping to restore our ecosystems - I am REALLY looking forward to sharing the projects @thelabw1 will be supporting in the coming months as part of our six year cultural programme: HOMEGROWN. 📸 Also pleased to report last night's conversations continued offstage, downstairs and well into the night after I left to go to bed - and I can assure you - with the people in this room I am looking forward to collaborating with you all again in the very near future. Stay tuned for the next event in our talks series! Onwards 👊🏽

I often run tapestry weaving workshops — private, public, indoors and outdoors — using surplus wool from my Sheep to Seat, Fleece to Floor project @yspsculpture alongside @camirafabrics ReSKU offcuts and other remnant fibres that continue to gather new lives through collective making. What interests me is how quickly weaving shifts attention and energy. Through the repetitive act of looping, threading, knotting and building structure slowly by hand, people visibly settle. Conversations open up differently. Focus returns. The nervous system calms. In a culture of speed and constant distraction, I see making not simply as a craft skill, but as a form of wellbeing, connection and agency. These workshops are never really just about producing a finished object — although everyone leaves with something they’ve made — but they do create temporary spaces for concentration, colour, material play and shared experience. 🙌🏼 This one was held @dalstongarden Curve Garden with @makeclub.arts — in their beautiful newly furbished community space , plants, wool, conversation and concentration! There’s more in the pipeline at varying scales and something super exciting brewing for @shoreditchdesignweek - watch this space and look out for bookings on my journal page, link in the bio 👆🏼 @_well_crafted_ #WeMustCreate #wellbeing #elladoran #elladorandesigner

Hiromi is a Japanese Ikebana artist specialising in the Japanese art of flower arrangement. Rooted in tradition, her practice explores balance, seasonality and the relationship between flowers, branches and space. Working primarily within the Sogetsu School of Ikebana, Hiromi’s workshops offer a calm, thoughtful introduction to an art form often translated as “giving life to flowers”. Participants are guided through the principles of composition and form, while also learning about the history and cultural significance of Ikebana in Japan. Originally developed over 550 years ago by Buddhist priests in Kyoto, Ikebana evolved from floral offerings into a refined creative discipline connected to mindfulness, hospitality and aesthetic awareness. Hiromi is an Ikebana artist specialising in the Japanese art of flower arrangement. Rooted in centuries of tradition, her practice explores balance, seasonality and the relationship between flowers, branches, vessels and space. Today, Hiromi continues this tradition through contemporary, accessible workshops that encourage participants to slow down, observe carefully and create with intention. Her sessions are beginner-friendly and include demonstrations, seasonal flower materials and hands-on guidance throughout. Participants leave with their own floral arrangement and a deeper understanding of the quiet beauty and philosophy behind Ikebana. Hiromi regularly exhibits her work across London, including at @japanhouseldn and through the @ikebana.sogetsu exhibitions. #ikebana #artist #wellcrafted #artistsoninstagram #ikebanasogetsu
