Pencil Test is here for your experimental, transgressive, DIY animations. We center artists from the margins, shining a spotlight on people and projects who might not yet have basked in its glow. We are a screening series, an artist cooperative, a series of workshops, an animation festival in an actual theater, and even a West Coast Tour. Get in touch or follow our happenings and event schedule here! Trailer by @jamdyermaker , featuring animations by Jam, @yoko_okay and @manniemurphy and a Pencil Test screening at @floatingworldcomics featuring @ehaidle
We are cooking up something really fun for you…

What do pro wrestlers, dancing puppets, angry office supplies, and haunted zine fests have to do with it? They’re all part of Fanfiction, a drag show and zine release for our fifth issue of Selene Latrine’s Outhouse!
Celebrate the newest installment and our first all-comics issue of Outhouse with us. This time around, we’re celebrating queer artists and their narratives to lift them up to deserved fandom status. Be transported by performances featuring some of your favorite worlds and lore, all through a decidedly ziney, zany, draggy lens. Follow Selene and the Outhouse crew as they encounter comic foibles to creating their newest issue. That’s right, it’s a zine story within a zine show within a zine..! Our cast will provide many delightful, extended narrative detours into their hilarious stories all along the merry way.
This is an Outhouse unlike anything we’ve ever done before! See the fruits of our experimentation and be one of the first to take the magnificent all-comics zine home with you for a mere $7!
Note: For this show, we’re also offering a limited number of free and reduced-cost show tickets on a first-come-first-served basis for community members with financial barriers. Please consider your ability to support the show and zine with the options on the ticketing page.
Selene Latrine’s Outhouse Zine is honored to be funded in part by the Regional Arts & Culture Council and the Office of Arts & Culture. @regionalarts@pdxartsculture
Time to make a one-page zine! This was a great chance to collect some of my latest house plant paintings into a small book. Ill have these at Comix Thing next weekend 8/23 12-6 at Lloyd Center @comix_thing !
I returned for a second year of live drawing the performances at RISK/REWARD @riskrewardpdx at @picapdx ! Here are a few of the resulting drawings, responding to the performances by @jordanisadore@the.the.bonnies@velvetilvs 💚
Shows this Saturday and Sunday to check out these performers!
3 new painted studies this week. Breaking out the acrylics after a long time. Reading Rick Rubin for inspiration each morning. In a world of mounting chaos, carving out the time to paint has meant a lot to me.
I revisited some of my older animation for the showing we had at Floating World last week — such a good time! Flash animation taken into Premiere and composited with video footage.
I'm coming out of a small hiatus to screen some of my experimental animations for the first time at Floating World! Look at this Lineup!
