In our third year directing and producing video for @artsfundseattle ‘s annual Celebration of the Arts, we invited our friend and 2025 Seattle Civic Poet @dujietahat to reflect on the relationship between the arts, civic engagement, philanthropy and social change. We were proud to be at McCaw Hall for the premiere of this piece, which raised funds for ArtsFund’s vital grantmaking, research and advocacy for the arts and cultural sector across Washington State. As Dujie so poignantly underscores, “more art does not make for a better world; it makes a better world possible.” And “in an age of cruelty,” our support for and experience of the arts must provoke us into tangible, courageous action. Thank you to our team who braved the summer heat to bring this short to life, and to the @seattleartmuseum for allowing us to capture this performance at the Olympic Sculpture Park. BTS 🎥 Seattle showed up to @palestineforeverfest for a day full of inspiring music and powerful resistance. We were proud to be a co-sponsor of the event and bring our video & livestream team to capture the artists, speakers and performances. Our team hustled for a full tech rehearsal and a marathon twelve hour day alongside the @riseup_productions and @positivesystems teams to get beautiful coverage of the event on the video walls and broadcast on YouTube and Instagram. Everyone went above and beyond and we’re so appreciative! today me and the @hww.work team are headed to the @artsfundseattle Celebration of the Arts to support their grantmaking and advocacy for the arts and culture sector across Washington State. This is my third year directing the video piece for their annual fundraiser that screens right before “the ask” - the portion of the program that invites the audience to give generously. But this year, instead of interviewing the foundation’s grantees and creating an expositional profile of the org’s work, we did something different. I tapped in with my dear friend and comrade in poetry @dujietahat - currently the Seattle Civic Poet - to craft a lyrical meditation on arts, civics, philanthropy and the importance to go beyond giving to realize the world we wish to see. On one of the hottest days of the summer, we filmed Dujie’s performance at @seattleartmuseum ’s Sculpture Park, ending with a sunset at the Pocket Beach. Was great to work with @jamawakawala for the first time as DP and have long time collaborator @abdulkassamali produce the set. @amil_charlemagne as always laced us with a gorgeous cut.
