Details from the studio. Constructing a large scale composite print necessitates testing first to see if the scale actually works. Photocopies stuck onto brown paper for strength is a cheap way of doing this. The computer screen always deceives.
Many congratulations Amak for your wonderful exhibition @thephotographersgallery nominated for the Deutsche Börse photography prize. You have achieved so much in the years between our first meeting at what was then the University of Wales Newport where you completed your PhD. You were facing so many challenges travelling to and from Iran with your pictures but you persisted and continued to make work, become a mother and settle in the UK. Your exhibition is a testament to your sensitivity, and determination to make your dreams and the dreams of others tangible. @amak_mahmoodian
I have always found it a long road from the time spent on location to the construction of an image on screen to its resolution in print. So much to consider, scale, substrate etc etc. Tests and more tests.
