This day was out of control. It was during Covid and was easily the biggest I had ever seen this spot. Most guys were battling the current trying to get in and under to get one and somehow @royalbeachbum managed to do it on a short board haha. At the end check out the 8 foot left that’s coming at him, crazy commitment to this doggy door! To this day this was the best wave I’ve personally ever seen ridden in Bali.

I think this is one of my all time favorite water clips I’ve ever shot. Backstory on this, we were on the Reckless Isolation boat trip in 2020 and we had just spent 3 weeks scoring some of the best waves I’ve ever seen with no one around. This was during Covid so every premier spot in the ments was completely empty. After countless crazy A+ barrel and turn clips we decided we needed to head up north and try and get some air shots to really make this movie as good as possible. We arrived up in the play grounds to super fun onshore bank vaults with massive ramps everywhere. The boys were frothing to punt so they all jumped out even faster than we had time to get our water gear ready haha I geared up as quickly as humanly possible and jumped in and started kicking my fastest to not miss anything. I noticed a rainbow starting to form as well. This was @ian_crane first attemp this session and I only just barely got into the spot. I actually saw him take off and dove under the wave pressed record and used it’s momentum to get closer (you can see in beginning of clip) and when I came up I just remember seeing him do the biggest BS stale fish I’ve ever seen him attempt. Afterwords I was screaming because I knew I had just captured something special. This was the fruit of our labor this day and I’ll never forget this moment 🥰

A trip we did to Ireland a couple years back. This was @solibailey ’s first time ever surfing this wave and geez did he have an honest go at wrangling some crazy ones! Sorry for the yelling in the commentary it was just really fun to watch! Can’t wait to go back to this amazing place again one day 🍀🍀🍀

Here’s a collection of my favourite moments I filmed for Now Days (stacked a few clips per slide to fit it all in). Huge thanks to @lawrence_photo for always being a mentor and for making these trips happen—none of this would’ve been possible without you. Love working alongside you! @fredericksdaughter thank you for bringing this project to life. The endless hours, passion, and dedication—from swell forecasting to organising everything behind the scenes and in front—are the reason this turned out so damn good. @patti_agency you guys are wizards. Thank you for making all of our footage look incredible the entire movie turned out soo freaking sick. Massive thanks to the filmmakers, especially @lawrence_photo @danscotttt @kaineville It was an absolute honour to work alongside you throughout this entire project. Last but not least, the girls— @caroline_markss @picklummolly @caitysimmers @erinbrookssurf @sierrakerr @skybrown all of you. So talented, but beyond that, just genuinely amazing people. So cool, so down to earth. It’s been inspiring to watch and work with you over the past couple of years. So many hilarious moments mixed in with everything we shared. Congrats on pushing women’s surfing to another level and setting the standard for the next generation.

Looking back on this session from a pumping swell for Padang in Oct, makes me trip out on how iconic it was. Nathan and Christian were in Bali for the @uluwatusurfvillas @thekeriscup and we just so happened to have a big west swell during the event window. We all rushed to Padang to get the dropping tide and myself and Hamish Humphreys had a front row seat watching fucking Nathan and Christian fletcher score near flawless Padang. A session I’ll never forget and wanted to share a couple waves I shot of them during that session.

Pretty wild perspective flying over the nightmare elevator built into a cliff and the other massive parcel of land that’s been cut out out of Penida this morning. Destruction in its purest form. 😭

Camera nerd alert ‼️🚨 I understand if you don’t want to read this but for those who like to nerd out on camera gear… I’ve been shooting with the Canon R5 Mii for the year & I’ve loved it so far. It’s been with me from Hawaii to Abu Dhabi, El Salvador to Jbay, Australia America and everywhere in between. I haven’t used it in the water yet so I finally got a chance to test the camera in my new & upgraded @liquideyewaterhousings I went out with my mate @dobbydigital wanting to test some specific features… 1. Overheating - I’ve heard horror stories about this camera over heating quickly in housings. I tested it out for a couple hours in the water & came across no problems. Liquid Eye have done an amazing job of integrating a vent sized hole on the base plate which allows for ventilation so it doesn’t overheat. 2. 2k 240 setting (Slide 1) - I know a lot of people are moving away from slow motion shooting these days as attention spans are at an all time low but this setting functioned well & serves a purpose. Having said this, the 2k setting is most suitable for reels & social media as there is loss of quality but nonetheless looks good. 3. 4k 120 with audio (Slide 3) This is a new feature on the camera and it works really well. As you might already know, I’m a huge fan of audio on my clips so having this for water shots is going to be a game changer. I also just generally love the photos this camera takes. It’s been a fun year having this camera on tour & using all of the new features. Now, it’s been made even better having my new @liquideyewaterhousings It’s made shooting easy & efficient. One of the best upgrades is being able to change your battery without having to remove the base plate with the new battery latch… this makes life sooo much easier and the new zoom control is as smooth as it gets (Slide 5). Excited to get to Tahiti & Fiji & get in the water with this camera & housing set up! Slide 1: 2k 240 Slide 3: 4k 120 (with audio) Slide 5: Battery and vent base plate + zoom control.
