Welcome to our incredible world baby boy Zephyr! 🌍 Tanya and I are overjoyed ❤️❤️❤️. Zephyr joins his older brothers Rocco, Diggory and Ozzy as my beloved fourth son 🕺🕺🕺🕺 I am so privileged and proud ⚡️ In Greek mythology Zephyrus was the god of the west wind- a gentle breeze that was a relaxing change from the manic Meltemi. Here in the North Atlantic the west wind is sunny and strong, a welcome change after the rainy south westerlies. Whatever your wind, whatever your god, thanks for joining us Zephyr! 🌬️

This is the fastest wing start in the sport.
Suitable for all level of wingfoiler- beginner to expert, suitable for all board volumes and great for all ages.
Especially useful in the waves- because it’s SO fast.
Most wingers will already possess the skills to achieve this improved waterstart in a few attempts.
Tips-
To balance the board for lateral control (side-to-side) knees should be on centreline pointing forwards. The smaller the board, the more they need to point forwards.
To balance the board for longitudinal stability (stopping the nose from coming up) keep pressure on your front elbow.
Common mistakes-
Hard to grab back of boom? Probably taken too long- the board has now turned too far downwind
Catapulting/ rig rolling/ too much power? Turn board more upwind at the start/ look upwind.
Board too wobbly side to side? Bring knees together- especially moving your back knee further forwards so that it’s closer to front foot straps/ legs more parallel with centre line
Tail sinking/ nose of board going skyward? Keep your bodyweight on your front elbow for longer
Struggling to get your knees underneath you? Use your back hand to push the board lower/ push your body higher- this presents a gap to bring your knees under you. Moving your back hand further back helps.
Still too wobbly? Instead of lifting the wing, try pulling the wingtip down into the water- this creates an ‘out-rigger’ to balance, giving you more time to look upwind and get ready to stand up.
I’ve seen and tried every wing start out there and my method is the fastest and best.
Please spread the love by commenting and sharing so I can make more teq vids- thank you. ⚡️😎🎩. @wingfoildaily@vayu.world@wingfoilshots #wingfoil #coaching #wingcoach #wingfoiltips #wingfoiling #wingfoiltraining @wingfoilbelgium@wing_foiling_germany@wingfoil_brasil@wingfoilersturkey@wingfoilchannel@wingfoil.uk@wing__foil@tonic_mag@waterspeedapp@neilpryde_wing
Here’s a few wingfoil tips- I’ll post better ones in future. For now- how to- Crash safer & not use a board leash
✅ NEVER LET GO OF THE BOOM allows you to ‘hang glide’ softly away from heavy crashes.
Whether you’re a beginner or a pro- HOLD TIGHT.
Fly away from the dangers of the foil and land in the best position to catch up with your board.
❌ If you do let go of your boom you will hit the water much harder, land closer to your foil and take longer to waterstart 💩
Remove your board leash- DANGER!
ONLY remove in flat water (in waves ALWAYS use a leash)
ONLY remove your leash with boards under 100 litres and foils under 1100cm2
Gear larger than this and/or beginners USE A LEASH- as wind or small waves could send your board downwind without you.
For all freeride/ race/ freestyle I don’t use a board leash- at the speed I sail, I don’t want to be attached to my board in a crash! Plus it speeds up my waterstarting not getting in a tangle.
To catch up with your board HOLD WING LIKE A SMILE- with the leading edge on the surface and the boom pointing skyward. You will always catch up with a small board and foil. Practice in onshore or side shore wind first!
ROTATE WING UPWIND
Practise this useful rig handling skill in the shallows first. Pull the boom down parallel to the surface with your back hand, then spin the leading edge upwind fast.
You’re now ready for a FAST START that I’ll explain in a future episode.
If you’d like me to share INtuition skills online, please like, comment and share the love- thank you 😎🎩 @wingfoildaily@vayu.world #wingfoil #technique #howto #wingfoiltechnique #wingfoilcoaching #waterstart
