How to tail shim your KT Foil to optimize performance, efficiency, and control 🔥
Riding your kit with no shim is not recommended. Just follow the guidelines on the front wing + mast and use the tail shim that’s the total. Even if the sum is a 0 shim.
To swing or not to swing that is the thing:
Whether ‘tis nobler in the mind to luff the wing in outrageous turbulence,
Or to sheet in with both arms against an apparent wind of troubles
And by backwinding flow with them.

I’ve wanted to do this maneuver for over a year now. Linking a tight radius, one bump drop back, heelside to toeside 360 is extremely challenging. I haven’t really seen any other foilers doing heel side 360’s that are this tight, let alone heelside 360’s at all and I definitely haven’t seen anybody linking them with toeside 360’s. Unfortunately I couldn’t learn how to do these last summer because I tore my labrum in my hip, so it’s been in the back of my mind forever. Learning heelside 360’s this spring and winter has been grueling. They are so challenging because you can only look over your shoulder so much and are blind coming into most of them. I learned toeside 360’s a while ago (which was also very hard to learn) so once I got the heelsides down it was just a matter of linking them together and creating the figure eight, it feels unreal and I couldn’t be more stoked on my progression lately.
