MARGARET RIVER PRO MEN RECAP: MARGARET RIVER PRO MEN RECAP: Australian legend Jaeger Stone showed he’s still right at the top of his game at the Severne Margaret River Wave Classic, mixing controlled aerials, trademark carves and that flawless style he’s known for. After missing out on the 2025 final, he came into this year with a point to prove, sailing every heat like it was the final, finishing with a 15.84 heat total in the final!
“I sailed each heat as hard as I could, which is what I always try and do. I really enjoy putting in the effort to sail this place and understand how challenging it is to sail. To win against other top windsurfers and guys on the professional world tour, it is a nice moment for me.” - J. Stone
Five-time World Wave Champion Philip Köster was knocked out of finals contention by the sport’s young guns, Denmark’s Simon Thule and local 2025 World Pro Junior Champion Jake Ghiretti. Thule and Ghiretti made it obvious this is their home turf, all the time training here really paid off, and their local knowledge showed in the way they positioned themselves and picked the right sections when it counted.
The final started with Thule opening strong and landing solid aerials, but it was Ghiretti who lit the place up with a triple-aerial wave that scored 8.73, the highest single-wave score of the whole competition, pushing him into second and backing up why everyone’s calling him one of Australia’s most exciting young talents.
Julian Salmonn had looked dangerous earlier with multiple 14+ point heats and some clean wave 360s, but his final took a hit when he broke gear and had to swap equipment mid-heat, losing valuable time and ending up in fourth, tight on points with Simon.
