Australian Sailing is mourning the sudden passing of Catherine Tillett after a medical episode. Catherine was a deeply loved member of the global sailing family and someone whose warmth, kindness and quiet presence touched so many people around the world. For decades, Catherine was a familiar and much-loved face throughout the international sailing community, standing beside her husband David through every chapter of an extraordinary life in sailing. From World Sailing conferences to America’s Cup campaigns and countless moments in between, she made friends everywhere she went and leaves behind memories that will stay with so many of us. Today, we hold David and the Tillett family close in our thoughts and send them our love and support. The sailing community is grieving alongside them, Catherine will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege to know her.

Last week’s 2026 ANZAC Day Cup brought together teams from the Royal Australian Navy, Australian Army and Royal Australian Air Force, alongside new teams from the Australian Defence Force Academy and Saltwater Veterans, racing in a spirit that honoured service and showcased high-level sailing. Each team was also joined by a member of the Australian Sailing Futures program, deepening the connection between the athletes and the Defence Personnel with shared stories, tactics and “friendly” advice being shared across the fleet. Take a look at how the day unfolded 👉🏼🎥 @austsailnswact | @rsys1862 | @saltwaterveterans | @sportsadf | @royalaustraliannavy | @australianarmy | @ausairforce

Volunteer Spotlight | Port Kembla Sailing Club 👏🏼⛵️ This month we are celebrating PKSC - a vibrant and active volunteer sailing and social club on the northern shores of Lake Illawarra in NSW (“pleasant place by the sea”) 🌊 On Saturday, 11 April 2026, Port Kembla Sailing Club paid tribute to three very special volunteers - Glenda Curry, Gail Grant and Sylvia Ledger - recognising their decades of contribution to the club. In a fitting honour, the club named three RS Vision learn-to-sail boats after them, ensuring their legacy will continue on the water for years to come. Check out our 'Volunteers' highlight for the full article 👆🏻
