What if waste was never really waste? Across Nigeria and Africa, a new economy is emerging, one built on clean energy, circular solutions, green transport, innovation, and opportunity. The businesses, creators, and industries that understand this early will help shape Africa’s future. The Africa Green Future Forum (AGFF) is bringing together the people, ideas, and partnerships driving that transition forward. Through the Africa Green Walk, thousands will come together to show that climate action is not just policy, it is people, movement, and collective action. Africa’s green future is not coming. It is already being built. Register for the Africa Green Walk: /e/agw2026/checkout #AGFF2026 #AfricaGreenWalk #GreenEconomy #ClimateAction #sustainability

At the recent Concordia Horizon Summit, global business and government leaders convened to discuss “Trade and Investment in a Shifting Global Landscape,” exploring how economies can navigate evolving supply chains, sustainability expectations, and investment priorities. Representing UN Global Compact Network Nigeria, our CEO joined global leaders including Alejandra Y. Castillo, Manuel Tovar, Rebecca J. Anderson, and Thomas Gilmore to discuss the future of responsible trade and investment. The discussion highlighted the growing opportunity for emerging economies like Nigeria to strengthen competitiveness while advancing sustainability and ESG priorities. A key message from the session was clear: Africa’s future should not be defined solely by low-cost labour or raw commodity exports. Across Nigeria, businesses are increasingly embedding integrity, responsible business practices, and inclusive workplaces into their core operations, positioning sustainability as a driver of long-term growth and competitiveness. As global supply chains evolve, African economies also have an opportunity to emerge as strategic hubs for manufacturing, agro-processing, clean energy, critical minerals, and digital services. At UN Global Compact Network Nigeria, we remain committed to supporting companies in translating sustainability commitments into measurable action through initiatives focused on climate ambition, human rights, gender equality, and responsible business practices. Companies interested in understanding how ESG and sustainability can unlock growth and competitiveness are invited to join our upcoming Open House session. Decent work requires more than commitment. It requires action. Fair pay. Safe conditions. Systems that protect every worker across the value chain. At UN Global Compact Network Nigeria, we work with businesses to turn principles into practice. We support companies to align with the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, strengthen labour standards, and advance living wage implementation. Progress depends on accountability and leadership. This Workers’ Day, we celebrate all the workers and employers that continue to close the gap between policy and reality. Respect for people is the foundation of sustainable business. Happy International Worker's Day !

Clarity is rare. But when the right minds come together with purpose, it becomes undeniable. The BEYOND INCLUSION Virtual Dialogue, co-convened by the Africa Green Future Forum (AGFF), the United Nations Global Compact Network Nigeria (UNGCNN) @globalcompactnigeria , and the Presidential Committee on Economic and Financial Inclusion (PreCEFI) @precefi_ng , brought together leaders across green energy, the private sector, policy, and development. What emerged was not just insight, but direction. Three clear layers of engagement defined the dialogue: 1. Where we are The realities are clear, limited access to training, weak industry-aligned skill pipelines, and systemic barriers that continue to slow progress. 2. Where the gap is Closing it requires deliberate action, stronger safety standards, context-specific certifications, and systems built for our realities. 3. Where we go from here Practical, Nigerian-led solutions: • Education and curriculum alignment • Industry-driven training pathways • Cross-sector partnerships • Structured on-the-job opportunities for graduates This was not just a conversation, it was a commitment. A commitment to action, and to accountability. The green economy is not waiting. It is already unfolding. The question is: who gets to participate? Let’s ensure no one is left behind. The transition is here. Are we equally included? At the High-Level Virtual Roundtable on Inclusion, Naomi Nwokolo, CEO of the UN Global Compact Network Nigeria reminded us that the UN Global Compact is more than a framework, it's a bridge between business ambition and real-world accountability in how companies hire, invest and create local capacities and how they can be accountable for it. As millions of jobs flow into the green energy sector, the question isn't whether the transition is coming. It's whether it will reach everyone equally and if they will be ready for it. Here's what the numbers say: +$12 trillion in global GDP unlocked by closing labor gaps Nigeria loses 6% of its GDP from gender exclusion (African Development Bank) Inclusive teams outperform in profitability, innovation, and long-term resilience And the she left us with this: "It's not doing the right thing at the expense of the smart thing, it's the right AND smart thing to do." So the real question now is: what does coordinated action look like today and going forward? Be a part of the movement by reaching out to us via this link. https://forms.gle/59iM6QFn4P8jCtbQ9
