TRUTH TIME:
Recently I’ve been hearing: “Your brands are taking off! All your hard work is paying off! Things look like they are going so well!” Yes, our hard work over the past 6+ years is starting to pay off and I am SO GRATEFUL. I prayed and dreamed about some of the milestones we’re now hitting, the partnerships we have, retailers we get to work with, etc. 🙏🏼💜
BUT social media tends to make things look glossy and I want to be 💯 honest: IT IS SO HARD! It remains hard and...at times harder.
What used to be $500 “challenges” became $5,000 challenges and are now $50,000 challenges! $50,000 is what @organicbath used to do in 1 year! And now it’s the dollar amount of a challenge! ☺️ Lord help me when we have 6 and 7 figure challenges.
I say “challenge” because what I’ve been saying and thinking for so long are “problems”. But these problems are part of growth. These are growth problems I’ve wanted to have. These problems are challenges to work through, overcome and solve.
At this stage in my entrepreneurial journey I’m working hard on my mindset because that is what will defeat me. Did I come this far ONLY to come this far? Do I want to quit? NO and NO. So if you’re an entrepreneur watching me build @organicbath + @wellsummit and you don’t know me well enough to receive a phone call filled with tears and doubt, please know this is not easy! Don’t judge yourself or give up on yourself because you think some other entrepreneur’s journey is easier. It’s not. They’re just using a really good, believable filter. ☺️🤣 Hang in there. Believe in yourself. Work your ass off. On the other side of these challenges is growth, success and a business you’ve been dreaming of building. 💕

More to come, but I had to share this beautiful speech by Tori, an 11th grade student at Brooklyn Children’s Theatre, before their I Love My Hair performance.
‘When you start loving your hair, you start loving yourself just a little louder.
Taking care of your hair isn’t just about appearance. It’s about identity. It’s about confidence. It’s about unlearning the idea that you were too much or not enough to begin with. It’s about realizing your hair, just as it grows, is already free.’
Last night filled my heart.
Watching young people feel seen, celebrated, and proud of who they are is something I’ll never take lightly.
I’m so proud to work for @amika , a brand that believes All Hair is Welcome. In my role, I get to spend my days thinking about how we turn those words into real experiences, real access, and real joy.
Over the past four years, this partnership has supported 70 student scholarships and brought our Love Your Hair workshop to life with an amika Pro stylist. It is a meaningful reflection of how we show up for community and the next generation. 🧡
Partnerships like this are deeply meaningful to me. I feel lucky to do work that lets me lead with purpose, celebrate people, and be part of moments like this.
Wait… @amika gives $50K to *other* hair brands?! In this special International Women’s Day conversation we’re sharing how the brand gives back 🧡 For more of our chat with amika’s @chelseamriggs and @giannedoherty check out Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Amazon Music or watch the full episode on YouTube #beauty #breakingbeautypodcast #amika #podcastclips #hair
Yesterday was pure joy.
Took a @garifunarobics class with my mom and my heart is still full 🤍
The Garifuna people are an Afro Indigenous community from Central America and the Caribbean, with deep roots in Belize, Honduras, Guatemala, and Nicaragua. Our culture is rich with music, drumming, movement, and connection. It lives in the body as much as the heart.
Moving, laughing, sweating, and honoring our culture together made it extra special. Grateful for where I come from and for the woman who passed it on to me.
PS. My mom hosts an epic Garifuna Settlement Day party every year in Belize… and I keep thinking I should plan a group trip for it 🥁✨

Still soaking this one in 🧡
Getting to welcome students from the San Antonio Independent School District, celebrate the incredible educators shaping the next generation, and introduce them to amika alongside our CEO, Chelsea Riggs, was truly special.
At amika, “friend” isn’t just something we say.
It’s a responsibility.
A responsibility to show up, to invest in access, and to champion beauty as a first-choice career.
And this is what that looks like in action: our entire company coming together, rolling up our sleeves, and lining up to hand-assemble swag bags for every single student.
Impact is literally built together.
Grateful to Reuben Carranza for helping make this partnership and moment possible.
Proud to work for a values-driven organization, with leaders who care deeply about giving back and creating real change 🧡

So proud to share more about one of the amazing programs I get to help lead at @amika , our Rooted in Growth program 🌱
amika means friend, and we take that seriously: in how we show up, who we partner with, and how we help shape the beauty industry for the better.
This week, we kicked off our third Rooted in Growth cohort, and it was such a special night!
The program supports emerging founders with capital, mentorship, and community, giving them the resources and connections to grow sustainable, impactful brands.
we kicked things off with a friendly pitch competition and an inspiring convo with @chelseamriggs + Nilofer Vahora, moderated by @kaylaagreaves — people were literally asking if amika was hiring 😂
each founder also receives a $50,000 grant to fuel their growth + impact.
Help me celebrate our 2025–2026 Rooted in Growth founders: ✨ @moknowshair ✨ @youngkinghaircare ✨ @squigsbeauty ✨ @thefrontalqueen
rooted in friendship. rooted in impact. rooted in growth.

Redefining Beauty Standards: Driving Change in Hair Care Legislation & Culture ✨
At @beautygivesbackfoundation we witnessed an incredible panel where leaders and changemakers came together to challenge outdated norms and push forward inclusive hair care legislation. Together, we explored how beauty, identity, and policy intersect and how protecting textured hair is reshaping cultural standards and empowering future generations.
A huge thank you to @amikapro for showing up, standing up, and presenting this powerful conversation. 🙌 Your commitment to inclusivity and change is moving our entire industry forward.
