The LaTouché (@latouche ) runway left the audience breathless. Bold layering, intricate new cuts, and bursts of vibrant Haitian color made each look a statement of culture and creativity. The collection was a love letter to Haiti, a masterclass in craft, and one of the most talked-about moments of the night.

Born and raised in Harlem. Deeply rooted in the culture. And intentional about every single thing in her closet. 🖤 @cheesmalls is a Senior Director of Product Development at Coach, a fashion storyteller, and someone who has always put her money where her heart is, behind Black designers. In this Closet Challenge feature, Chee takes us through the pieces and designers that mean the most to her: her ride-or-die @brandonblackwoodnyc bag that goes with her on every trip, the @fenoel robes she dreamed of owning when she first started making money, the @christopherjohnrogers pieces that make color, structure, and silhouette feel effortless, and @12pmstudios sunglasses by @jeneenaylor that can transform even the simplest look. Her words say it best: “Black designers lead with creativity, resilience, culture, inclusivity, empathy, and for me, it’s important that I support that.” That’s exactly what The Closet Challenge is about. Commit just 10% of your closet to Black designers. Small shift. Big impact. Chee is showing you how. Comment CLOSET below and we’ll send you the link to take the challenge and shop her full guide. Then tag 3 people to put them on 👀🖤

Out of roughly 100 HBCUs in the U.S., only 10–12 have formal fashion programs. That means the pipeline is limited.
The opportunity is massive.
And the gap is urgent. Yet the influence, creativity, and culture coming out of HBCU communities continue to shape the global fashion industry. That’s why Dr. D’Wayne Edwards, President of PLC Detroit, and Brandice Daniel, CEO of Harlem’s Fashion Row and ICON360, created the HBCU Professor Summit, a space where HBCU educators and industry leaders come together to build real pathways for the next generation of fashion talent. Now in its 4th year, the Summit is heading to Detroit. 📍 Pensole Lewis College of Business & Design
🗓 June 15–16
🎟 HBCU Faculty: Register at the link in bio For fashion brands and organizations interested in partnering or attending, please reach out to [email protected]. Because if we care about the future of fashion, representation, and access, this is one of the rooms that matters. Visuals by Carl Schrónez

This time last week, we were wrapping up three powerful days of access, insight, and connection, and Day 3 at Nike HQ brought it all full circle 🖤 Hearing directly from our designers reminded us why this retreat exists: to create space, open doors, and help designers of color walk into their next chapter with more clarity, confidence, and community. A special thank you to @Nike for helping us close the retreat with intention and for continuing to invest in the future of fashion. Tag someone in the comments who needs to be in the room for the 2027 Designer’s Retreat 👇🏾

Monet McMichael (@monetmcmichael ) in Gap x HFR? Say less. The internet’s favorite fashion girl was spotted wearing the Gap × Harlem’s Fashion Row Oversized Icon Denim Jacket by IGDALYAH, and we love to see this full-circle moment. Designed by Igdaliah Pickering of IGDALYAH, the piece is part of our February collaboration with Gap, a 20-piece denim capsule celebrating five designers of color and their unique perspectives on one of fashion’s most iconic fabrics 💙

Day 1 of HFR’s 8th Annual Designer Retreat began with purpose, access, and an unforgettable welcome from our partners at @pvhcorp , @calvinklein and @tommyhilfiger . Hosted inside the Calvin Klein offices, the day brought our designers into a space rooted in fashion history and opened the retreat with conversations that were both practical and powerful. Designers heard from an incredible lineup of leaders, creatives, and industry experts including Janelle Parker Lunnon, Meghan Simio, Eurelle Hao, Rohit Burman, Shaina Green, Robyn Mowatt (@robynmowatt ), Sherieka Smallwood-Morgan, Keyaira Boone (@pennedbykeyaira ), Ouigi Theodore (@thebkcircus ), Lillie N. Nkenchor (@lillie_nkenchor_pc ), Cassandra Cyrius, Eni Popoola (@enigivensunday ), Alexander Julian (@alexanderjulian ), and Tony Hoang. From inclusion and corporate philanthropy to retail readiness, funding, ownership, storytelling, social strategy, and the business of building a lasting brand, Day 1 reminded us why access to the right rooms matters. A special thank you to PVH (@pvhcorp ), Calvin Klein (@calvinklein ) Tommy Hilfiger (@tommyhilfiger ), Janelle Parker Lunnon, and Rohit Burman for helping make this day possible and for continuing to champion meaningful access, resources, and opportunity for designers of color. We are deeply grateful to every speaker, moderator, partner, and designer who helped set the tone for this year’s retreat. 🎥: @iamtydavis

@bruceglen has launched a new tailored collection titled “I Don’t Look Like What I’ve Been Through.” The collection follows a major business transition earlier this year that led the brand to pause, reset, and rethink its next chapter. Bruce and Glen Proctor’s relationship with Harlem’s Fashion Row has continued across key moments, including their sold-out Gap x Harlem’s Fashion Row capsule collection, which spotlighted Black designers reimagining Gap classics, and their role as speakers at the 2025 HFR Sustainability Forum Known for bold color, joyful design, and expressive storytelling, BruceGlen brings that same perspective into a tailored collection centered on resilience, confidence, and purpose. Congratulations to @bruceglentwins on the launch of their new collection 🖤

Same dress. Two ways to wear it. Zero compromise on the designers. 🖤 @cheesmalls is giving us the fit check we didn’t know we needed, and every single thing she’s wearing is intentional. The dress? The Sanai Knit Dress by @muehlederlabel , styled two ways because a great piece never has just one life. The bag? @brandonblackwoodnyc , her ride-or-die for every occasion. The sunnies? @12pmstudios in the London Green Lens, because the right accessory changes everything. This is what an intentional closet looks like. And this is exactly what The Closet Challenge is about. Commit just 10% of your closet to Black designers and watch how your whole wardrobe, and your impact, shifts. Comment CLOSET below and we’ll send you the direct link to shop Chee’s full look and take the challenge. Then tag 3 people who need to see this. 👀🖤
