One week later, the impact of the 18th Annual Fashion Show & Style Awards is still with us. ✨ This wasn’t just about red carpets and runways, it was about the village (that’s you!). Together, we expanded the conversation of what it means to belong in fashion. We showed the world that a seat at the table is no longer enough. We are rewriting that phrase in real time, building a new table of our own, one grounded in culture, community, and legacy. We honored visionaries who are shaping industries: Jason Bolden (@jasonbolden ) , Nikki Ogunnaike (@nikkiogun ), Christiane Pendarvis (@capendarvis ), Ruth E. Carter (@therealruthecarter ), and Usher Raymond IV (@usher ). We witnessed designers with Haitian roots, LaTouché (@latouche ), Atelier Ndigo (@atelierndigo ), and Daveed Baptiste (@daveedbaptiste ), turn heritage into high fashion. And we saw a community come together to celebrate culture, creativity, and legacy in motion. One week later, we’re reminded: Our village is building a movement together. This is the table. 🎥 @ItsJustBC 🎥 @VeloflimsNyc 🎬 @IamTyDavis

Last night was nothing short of legendary as we celebrated the 17th Annual Harlem’s Fashion Row Fashion Show & Style Awards, honoring the trailblazers who continue to push the boundaries of fashion and create space for Black talent to shine. Your vision, leadership, and unapologetic creativity have reshaped the landscape of fashion, ensuring that the voices and contributions of Black creatives are seen, heard, and celebrated. Thank you for opening doors for the next generation and showing the world what true excellence looks like. To our brilliant designers—@a___potts , @nicolebenefield_portfolio , and @latouche —your collections weren’t just fashion moments, they were cultural movements. You poured your heart and soul into these pieces, representing the beauty, strength, and tenacity of our culture. You are the legends in the making, and last night, the world was watching as you elevated Black fashion to new heights. In honor of my talk next week with @vogue_club ! 🌟 Dreamers, this one’s for you! 🌟 They’ll try to limit you, tell you about the impossible. Don’t let them. Your dreams? They’re more than valid - they’re essential. 💫 It was 2021 HFR Fashion Show and Style Awards. Can you believe it? Anna Wintour, in my old apartment - the same place where @harlemsfashionrow was just a spark in my imagination. If you’d told me back in my Memphis days, working part-time at Brooks Brothers in the mall, I’d be full of questions: How? When? Really, me? She presented the Stylist of the Ywar award to the brilliant @mr_carlos_nazario . But here’s the thing: life, with a LOT of faith, has a way of surprising us, exceeding every expectation, every limit we imagine. 🙌 So here’s your nudge: Keep pushing. I know, it’s tough. Believe me, I know. But every step, every struggle, it’s building something incredible. You are building something incredible. 💪 Sending out lots of love this final November day! 💌 Drop a ♥️ below and let’s spread this encouragement!

Day 1 of HFR’s 8th Annual Designer Retreat began with purpose, access, and an unforgettable welcome from our partners at @pvhcorp , @calvinklein and @tommyhilfiger . Hosted inside the Calvin Klein offices, the day brought our designers into a space rooted in fashion history and opened the retreat with conversations that were both practical and powerful. Designers heard from an incredible lineup of leaders, creatives, and industry experts including Janelle Parker Lunnon, Meghan Simio, Eurelle Hao, Rohit Burman, Shaina Green, Robyn Mowatt (@robynmowatt ), Sherieka Smallwood-Morgan, Keyaira Boone (@pennedbykeyaira ), Ouigi Theodore (@thebkcircus ), Lillie N. Nkenchor (@lillie_nkenchor_pc ), Cassandra Cyrius, Eni Popoola (@enigivensunday ), Alexander Julian (@alexanderjulian ), and Tony Hoang. From inclusion and corporate philanthropy to retail readiness, funding, ownership, storytelling, social strategy, and the business of building a lasting brand, Day 1 reminded us why access to the right rooms matters. A special thank you to PVH (@pvhcorp ), Calvin Klein (@calvinklein ) Tommy Hilfiger (@tommyhilfiger ), Janelle Parker Lunnon, and Rohit Burman for helping make this day possible and for continuing to champion meaningful access, resources, and opportunity for designers of color. We are deeply grateful to every speaker, moderator, partner, and designer who helped set the tone for this year’s retreat. 🎥: @iamtydavis

This was me just a week and a half ago in Aruba… calm, centered, on the beach with not a care in the world. ☀️ Last week I had vacation energy all over me. Today? Real life said, “Hey girl… remember me?” 😂 Trying to figure out how to hold onto the peace, the clarity, the slower pace. Got any tips on how to stay in vacation mode when you get back? I resigned before I had a job offer. Trusted the leap — and landed one before I moved. Packed two suitcases and a duffel bag and moved from Memphis to New York City with no apartment. No plan. Just a direction. I didn’t know a single person who had done what I was trying to do. I just knew I had to go. That leap became Harlem’s Fashion Row @harlemsfashionrow Nineteen years of building a platform for designers of color. Partnerships with Nike, Gap, LVMH. Over 500 designers impacted because somebody decided to go anyway. In the middle of a pandemic God told me to start a nonprofit for designers of color @hfricon360 . And He told me we would raise a million dollars. I told my best friend. She didn’t laugh. She believed me. I won’t lie. I had moments of doubt. But I held onto what God said. A year later I opened Vogue and saw our work in Anna Wintour’s editor’s letter after a million dollar donation to support the mission. That money wasn’t for me. It was for designers of color who needed support to keep building their dreams. When God gives you an assignment it rarely makes sense at the time. The leap you’re afraid to take — somebody else’s breakthrough is connected to it. Go anyway. From Memphis…..to this.

Nike announced @tukiitucker as the winner of the Nike Designer Combine during Day 3 of HFR’s 8th Annual Designer Retreat. A 2026 HFR Designer Retreat participant, NCCU alum, at AT&T sponsored 2023 Fashion Show & Style Awards Attendee, Tukii’s relationship with Harlem’s Fashion Row is not a one-and-done moment. It’s part of a larger journey that has been years in the making, making this $5,000 prize a meaningful next step in his growing design career. We’re deeply grateful to @nike for their year over year partnership and commitment to creating access, resources, and real opportunities for designers of color. Congratulations, Tukii. We’re so excited to see what’s next.

9 years ago I pitched Nike an idea. At the time, I had no clue it would turn into an 8-year partnership, impact 500+ designers, and lead to moments like this… walking through Nike HQ seeing our company’s logo everywhere. We just wrapped @harlemsfashionrow ’s 8th Annual Designer Retreat and whew… moments like this never get old. If I can tell anybody anything it’s this: the big dreams are possible. When I was sitting in Memphis dreaming about working in fashion, I couldn’t have imagined the doors that would open years later. A few things I tell people all the time: Stay consistent. Most people don’t realize I’ve been building @harlemsfashionrow for 19 years. Study business.Creativity and inspiration matter, but learning business changed my life. Read the books. Study the people ahead of you. Learn how companies actually grow. Make the big ask. Some of the biggest opportunities in my life came from asking. And always keep God first. I hope this is somebody’s sign to keep going. Your life can look completely different a few years from now.

Yesterday was Day 1 of the @harlemsfashionrow Designer Retreat and honestly… it reminded me why we started Harlem’s Fashion Row in the first place. ❤️ 75 designers of color from around the world. Different backgrounds. Different journeys. All under one roof learning, building, sharing and dreaming bigger together. And to have our first day hosted inside the global corporate offices of Calvin Klein made it even more special. One of my favorite moments of the evening was seeing Veronica Leoni, Creative Director of Calvin Klein, come down and spend time with our designers during cocktail hour. Those moments matter more than people realize. Access matters. Proximity matters. Conversations matter. Thank you to the entire PVH team for being such gracious hosts and for continuing to create space for our designers to be seen, supported and poured into. And thank you to every designer who showed up fully as yourselves this week. The talent in this room is unreal. Also… huge thank you to the HFR team. Events like this only happen because of the people behind the scenes making a thousand moving pieces come together. This retreat will always be one of my favorite things we do because it brings us closest to the mission. Not just visibility. Not just a moment. But building real relationships, real opportunities and long-term growth for designers of color. Day 1 was special. ✨

I didn’t attend an HBCU. But I remember the first HBCU campus I ever visited — Clark Atlanta University. One moment on that campus and I knew… at some point, I would be working with these departments. A week ago, I was at North Carolina A&T State University interviewing students for a Harlem’s Fashion Row HBCU program (open to students at North Carolina Central University and NCAT), preparing them for careers in fashion. I don’t talk about this enough, but I’m really proud of what we’ve built through Harlem’s Fashion Row on HBCU campuses. Through @hfricon360 , we’re able to support students in real ways. For some, that means covering housing or flights so they can take internships in NYC that would’ve otherwise been out of reach. And that only happens because of partners who continue to show up. Being there reminded me of something I think more of us need to hear: That idea you keep sitting on… The one you’ve been waiting to feel ready for… It’s not supposed to stay in your head. It’s supposed to be out in the world.
