✨ In total shock at news of this nomination by @ivorsacademy for Best Televison Soundtrack, for ‘Summerwater’. I’m delighted to say the very least. ✨ Writing the score was a dream, and I was already content with that experience. Being given such creative freedom by writer John Donnelly and director Robert McKillop, and working with @nikknakki @freedomscripted and @isaac_allaway and all the rest of team, was a joy in itself. The beautiful cello you hear all over this soundtrack is by my talented friend, composer and multi-instrumentalist @alexander.painter 🎵 Huge thanks to @invadarecords for supporting and releasing the soundtrack digitally last November. The new version brings a distinct power to the song that makes its sound infinitely spacious and epic, without sacrificing the horror! I absolutely adore its new impact! ULVER X GAZELLE TWIN / HOLLYWOOD BABYLON REMIX OUT NOW 🌐🔊 Gazelle Twin (Elizabeth Bernholz) has completed a remix of Ulver’s “Hollywood Babylon,” due for imminent release. The track, taken from the Norwegian group’s 2024 album, Liminal Animals, which combined dark ‘pop’ sensibilities and poetic spoken-word with cinematic electronics. Bernholz adds her signature shadowy atmosphere and distinctive voice while respectfully preserving the song’s core structure. Ulver says: “We became instant fans of Gazelle Twin when we both played the Donau Festival (Austria) in 2017, and we are thrilled to have Elizabeth lend her unique vision and voice to “Hollywood Babylon.” Her approach captures the song’s essence while adding new and different layers of emotional depth and contemporary resonance.” In her note to the band, Elizabeth writes: “I have really enjoyed working on “Hollywood Babylon” – such a GREAT song. I love the vibe, chord sequences, vocals and lyrics, which feel ever more prescient. I wanted to bring all those things to the foreground, plus add a bit of GT darkness and my voice.” The remix offers a brooding reinterpretation that will appeal to fans of both artists’ experimental soundworlds.

Had a wonderful few days in Rotterdam with my agent Hamish Duff @first_artists_management for the world premiere of dark comedy ‘The Fall of Sir Douglas Weatherford’ at @iffr starring Peter Mullan, Gayle Rankin, Jakob Oftebro and Jonathan Hyde. It’ll always be an emotional feeling to hear my music play out in a cinema, and this particular project has been a very special and creatively rich collaboration with the freedom to use all the musical skills I physically possess, from my recorder playing childhood to now. 🎵 I also got to work with @alexander.painter again on one special song within the film, featuring his lovely vocals supporting those of Jonathan Hyde @jonathanhydeofficial - a ✨ moment for sure. Cannot wait to share the music with you all this year. So grateful to work with such a generous and kind core team; Writer and Director, Seàn Dunn, Editor Shakti Bhagchandani, producers Alex Polunin @anipolunin1 and Scott Macaulay @bugjack - whose warmth and enthusiasm was so infectious. Shout out to assistant editors Elizabeth Clutterbuck and Phill Skokos @abovesatisfactory and mixer Ben Baird. Also great to finally meet Kristen Irving at @bbcfilmofficial Leslie Finlay @screenscots and to reconnect with @miabays of @britishfilminstitute after over a decade. 👀 The UK Premiere takes place at Glasgow Film festival @glasgowfilmfest on 4 March. Composer, musician and live performance artist Elizabeth Bernholz, known as @gazelletwin , has joined Somerset House Studios! Gazelle Twin is the performance moniker Bernholz established in 2010, founded on a commitment to exploring experimental approaches to music creation, production, and live performance, with a particular focus on women and how they are positioned within the industry. She continues to work as a composer within commercial media while simultaneously developing independent artistic projects — the outcomes of which often feed back into her commercial practice. Over the past two years, Gazelle Twin’s work has centred around the 2023 album Black Dog, which toured across the UK and Europe, concluding with a performance at @icalondon on 25 September. She has worked with @somersethouse before, having developed a sound installation for The Horror Show in 2022, in collaboration with Maxine Peake, Iain Forsyth, Jane Pollard, and Claire Catterall.
