With this year's @festivaldecannes underway, we're delighted to share our new showreel, which shines a spotlight on some of the Scotland-based talent helping bring stories to global audiences. From directors to producers to screenwriters and documentary makers, Scotland is making waves on both the big and small screens. ✨ Save the date: The Incomer will be opening this year's @edfilmfest on 13 August 2026. The @screenscots supported film, which is the directorial debut of Edinburgh-born filmmaker @louispaxton , stars Domhnall Gleeson, Gayle Rankin, Grant O’Rourke, @iamjohnhannah and @michellegomezofficial . The Incomer is set on a remote Scottish island and follows siblings Isla (@_____gaylerankin______ ) and Sandy (@grantorourke ) who have lived in peaceful isolation for decades, hunting seabirds, chatting to mythic creatures and defending their isle from dreaded Incomers. Their world is upended with the arrival of Daniel (Gleeson), an awkward council worker, tasked with uprooting them to the mainland. 🎞️ North Star Shorts applications are open! Supported by Screen Scotland and BFI NETWORK, six short films by early career talent will be awarded production funding of £25,000 plus an additional £3,000 will be available to support development. North Star Shorts is open for both live action and animation projects by Scotland-based filmmakers. The deadline to apply is Friday 19th June @ 23:59. An t-Eilean (The Island) is back! Filming is underway in the Western isles on the award-winning Gaelic drama 📽️ @sorcha.groundsell reprises her role as Kat Crichton alongside Sam James Smith, with plenty of new faces joining the cast. The @screenscots supported series follows Shannon, the naively romantic daughter of a crime family, who meets Arran, in a darkly comic and unconventional drama. Richard Gadd is back! The first episode of his new show, Half Man, is now available to watch on BBC iPlayer, with episode 2 available from Friday 1 May. All episodes of Mint are out now on BBC iPlayer! The series, written and directed by Charlotte Regan, is a darkly comic and unconventional drama about a crime family's inner life, told through the eyes of its daughter, who is searching for love.
