I have a new recording “XXXVI” out now on one of two beautiful new compilations by @tuneforkstudios & @beirutsynthcenter to help raise funds for those displaced by Israeli attacks on Lebanon: Land 02 + Land 03: Two compilations for the displaced in Lebanon (sisters to Land 01 from 2025, for which I also contributed a track). “XXXVI” is inspired by Etel Adnan’s “The Arab Apocalypse”, an excerpt which I am posting below. Thanks to dear @dicky_bahto for contributing oud to the track, and thanks again to @juliasabra for the invitation to contribute. LAND 02 + LAND 03 are out now! 100% of sales will be given to @beit.aam , who are providing basic needs to the displaced in shelters, and other local grassroots initiatives in Beirut and the South. The albums feature unreleased music by artists from/in Lebanon and around the world who are part of the wider community of Tunefork Studios Beirut Synth Center. They are sold exclusively on Bandcamp, along with LAND 01, the first volume published in January 2025 during the last war and displacement crisis. The 3 volumes are available as a bundle at a discount. Art by Carla Aouad. Design by Josette ‘Zooz’ Khalil. Mastering (of most tracks unless stated otherwise) by Lopazz at mixmastering.de in Germany. Link in bio ~~~~~~~ Etel Adnan “XXXVI” (from “The Arab Apocalypse”) In the dark irritation of the eyes there is a snake hiding In the exhalations of Americans there is a crumbling empire In the foul waters of the rivers there are Palestinians OUT OUT of its borders pain has a leash on its neck In the wheat stalks there are insects vaccinated against bread In the Arabian boats there are sharks shaken with laughter In the camel’s belly there are blind highways OUT OUT of TIME there is spring’s shattered hope In the deluge on our plains there are no rains but stones

Christina Quarles’ @cequarles “The Ground Grows Black” is a beautiful show and I just found out there’s only one more day of it (today) @hauserwirthlosangeles . I love to look at her paintings up close bc the details are so crazy and feel like pieces in of themselves. if you don’t already know her work, which you might bc a lot of people do, her paintings are magical mazes of humanlike forms and geometrical shapes and bright colors, no idea how it comes together but that is the fun of it, improvised painted gestures and meticulous stenciling. the new series of charcoal pieces are particularly moving, built on erasure, and there is a theme of ash in the show, as a result of Christina and her family losing their home and entire neighborhood to the fires last year. Christina and I became friends as little kids and so I’ve been seeing her amazing drawings for a long time, even back then she was drawing so much. she kindly lent her incredible painting “Wrestlin’” to be used as the cover for my record “Something in the Room She Moves”. Lots of love to Christina and her family <3 (apologies my terrible art photography lol)

A reminder about the LAND 03 compilation I am a part of that I wrote a piece specifically for—I have been listening to both LAND 02 and LAND 03 in the car a lot since their release— they are for a crucial cause organized by @tuneforkstudios supporting grassroots initiatives like @beit.aam to raise funds for those displaced in Lebanon, but also these are beautiful collections of music that deserve your ears. Right now, as you may know, the Israeli military is demolishing entire villages in Lebanon, so we see headlines like “Israeli Strike Kills Infant Girl During Her Father’s Funeral in Lebanon”. If you’re in the US, the Senate is voting this week on Joint Resolutions of Disapproval which would block hundreds of millions of dollars of massive bombs from being dropped on innocent people in Palestine, Lebanon, and Iran—tell your senators to vote yes by texting NOWEAPONS to (877)829-8228

I am honoured to share that, Arriving on May 29th, ‘Opvs Novum: A Requiem Reworked’ : a carefully chosen circle of kindred spirits dismantling ‘A Requiem’. Julia Holter’s rework of ‘Thou Art Mortal’ is out now. 🖤 It takes a collective energy to bring anything to life, and some of my favourite artists came together to bring their own beautifully unique energy to reinvent ‘A Requiem’. It means so much to bring them all together, and I am infinitely humbled by their transcendental creations. On vinyl for preorder now. the 1st 100 orders comes with a short story written and illustrated by me. (!)
