Feminist leadership was visible, vocal, and impossible to ignore during the Multi-Stakeholder Hearing for the 2026 UN High-Level Meeting on HIV/AIDS.
Throughout the discussions, feminist advocates, women living with HIV, youth leaders, trans activists, and community representatives brought urgent political priorities into the room at a time when funding cuts, shrinking civic space, and attacks on rights continue to threaten progress in the global HIV response.
Speakers and interveners across panels emphasized the need to:
• Protect and fund feminist and women-led organizations • Defend sexual and reproductive health and rights and bodily autonomy • End criminalization and punitive laws • Sustain community-led responses and accountability mechanisms • Ensure meaningful participation of women and girls in all their diversity • Safeguard gender data, feminist evidence, and community-led monitoring
The hearing also reflected a broader collective message emerging from feminist consultations ahead of the 2026 HLM: existing commitments on gender equality, human rights, and community leadership must not be weakened or rolled back.
WE WON’T GO BACK.
Grateful to all the advocates, organizers, moderators, speakers, and networks who continue pushing for an HIV response rooted in justice, dignity, and community leadership.
The feminist non-negotiables consultation report for the 2026 HIV High-Level Meeting further outlines these collective demands and priorities.

Imagine a world where trans and gender diverse voices shape the future of #equality and #humanrights!
The 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (#SDG) are powerful tools to make that happen!
As is known, trans and gender diverse communities remain largely invisible in how the SDGs are implemented, monitored, and resourced at the national level and multilateral level - even as we are disproportionately affected by the inequalities the goals are meant to address.
Join us for this 1-hour webinar as we launch GATE’s 2026 "Sustainable Development Goals & Trans Engagement" Guide. Led by Best Chitsanupong, GATE’s Human Rights Officer, you’ll learn:
✨ Which SDGs are of the highest strategic relevance to trans communities
✨ Concrete entry points such as the Voluntary National Reviews (VNRs), the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF), national consultations, and coalitions with feminist and broader civil society movements.

Yesterday, on International Harm Reduction Day, we opened the doors of Nange Healing and Harm Reduction Center.
What started as a dream shaped by survival, faith, community, and care is now a real space filled with laughter, art, conversation, healing, and connection.
We painted together.
We played games.
We shared food, stories, and quiet moments of joy.
For many of us, harm reduction is not just about staying alive. It is also about creating spaces where people can breathe without shame. Spaces where trans women and people who use drugs are treated with dignity, softness, and humanity.
Nange was built from lived experience and from the belief that nobody should have to heal alone.
Seeing people leave their handprints on our community canvas reminded us that every person who walked into that room matters. Every story matters. Every life matters.
This is only the beginning.
Thank you to everyone who supported, showed up, believed in us, and helped make Nange possible.

Tackling disinformation and misinformation about trans and gender diverse communities, engaging in dialogs where we are underepresented, and trying to change the narratives can be ways of rethinking the HIV response.
Best Chitsanupong, our Human Rights Officer explains it briefly in this video.

Ever wondered why trans and gender diverse people need to be in #feminist spaces?
At @women_deliver Conference, crucial decisions about #genderequality and health happen!
GATE was present and shared how long-term funding makes a real difference for trans-led HIV and human rights work in a session convened by the @robertcarrfund
We also marked our presence in a side-event co-hosted by @ilgaworld and @amnesty where we met leaders and talked about strategies to tackle urgent issues facing our communities.
During the event, we had time to connect with leaders of GATE Member organizations, including @saro_imran , Founder & CEO of @pinkcenter.pk , and @transtenacity (Glenton) Matthyse, Executive Director of @genderdynamix — reaffirming GATE's ongoing commitment to centering the trans voices and leadership.

We are shining the community spotlight on @hombrestranspanama 🇵🇦
Hombres Trans Panamá has been creating safer, affirming spaces, expanding access to healthcare and employment, and supporting trans people in being part of decisions that affect their lives.
In 2025, with GATE's financial and technical support, they made history in submitting the first trans-led report to the @unitednations Universal Periodic Review in #Panama.

What could have been the consequences of a redefinition of the meaning of "gender" at the @unitednations level during the Commission on the Status of Women (#CSW)?
Certainly, nothing good for trans and gender diverse people, but that's not all. Gender equality frameworks, the global HIV response, human rights work and sustainable development would have been severely impacted.
We did it! We proved once more that a united civil society is stronger together!
GATE was present at #CSW70 and worked tirelessly with partners to push back against attempts to exclude our communities and to protect inclusive gender equality frameworks that benefit everyone.
They tried to erase trans people from Global Policy. The world said “No” – Twice - is our Human Rights Officer, Best Chitsanupong, in a new article on this topic.
