Kimberly Springer, Chair of the Y+ Global Board and NGO Delegation to the @unaidsglobal PCB Delegate for Latin America and the Caribbean, delivered a compelling intervention at the Interactive Multi-Stakeholder Hearing ahead of the 2026 @unitednations General Assembly High-Level Meeting on HIV/AIDS.
“Community systems cannot continue operating on passion and volunteerism alone. Meaningful community leadership requires sustainable investment, flexible funding, and safe spaces for communities to organise and lead.”
Speaking on behalf of the NGO Delegation to the UNAIDS PCB, Kimberly highlighted the urgent need to protect and finance community-led responses and to ensure that the next Political Declaration translates commitments into concrete action.

Ikka Noviyanti, Executive Director of Y+ Global, delivered a powerful message at the Interactive Multi-Stakeholder Hearing ahead of the 2026 @unitednations General Assembly High-Level Meeting on HIV/AIDS. @unaidsglobal
“True country ownership does not mean governments working alone. It means young people and communities at the centre of decision-making, service delivery, and accountability.”
As preparations continue for the 2026 High-Level Meeting, Ikka reminds us that community leadership must be protected, institutionalised, and sustainably financed to safeguard decades of hard-won progress in the HIV response.

Young leaders and community advocates are helping shape the road to the 2026 @unitednations General Assembly High-Level Meeting on HIV/AIDS.
This week, the Interactive Multi-Stakeholder Hearing brought together civil society, NGOs, and community representatives to contribute directly to the process leading up to the High-Level Meeting, which will take place on 22–23 June 2026.
Representing Y+ Global at the Hearing in New York are Ikka Noviyanti, Executive Director of Y+ Global, and Kimberly Springer, Chair of the Y+ Global Board and PCB NGO Delegate for Latin America and the Caribbean.
Their voices are joined by Jeremy Tan, Regional Coordinator of Youth LEAD and PCB NGO Delegate for Asia Pacific, and Priscilla Ama Addo, Junior Project Officer at Y+ Global and Co-chair of the Multistakeholder Task Force for the 2026 High-Level Meeting on HIV/AIDS.
Together, they highlight the priorities that young people and communities want to see reflected in the next Political Declaration, from meaningful youth engagement and sustainable financing to human rights and community leadership.
Young people and communities are not just participating in the HIV response. They are helping shape its future.

Social media and AI are changing how advocates connect, share, and be heard.
Last week at the @saswaalliance SRH Capacity Strengthening Academy in Johannesburg, South Africa 🇿🇦 organised with support from @aidsfonds and the Kingdom of the Netherlands in South Africa, participants explored ways to strengthen their digital advocacy skills.
Tawanda Chibonore, Graphic Designer & ICT Officer at Y+ Global, led an interactive session focused on building confidence in using digital tools, from social media and AI to online safety and content creation.
Through practical activities, participants gained new ways to use digital platforms for storytelling, networking, and community engagement.
Last week at the #WHS2026, Eddy Rudram, Communications and Advocacy Manager at Y+ Global, contributed to a panel on the changing HIV treatment landscape and its impact on hepatitis B.
Drawing on the Living Positively with HIV and Hepatitis: A Digital Toolkit for Young People, developed with the World Hepatitis Alliance, the discussion reflected a critical gap.
While progress in youth-led HIV advocacy continues, co-infections such as hepatitis B remain largely absent from conversations and services. Many young people are not routinely offered testing, have limited awareness, and are not supported to understand co-infections, resulting in many slipping through the cracks in health systems.
As the treatment landscape evolves, an important question remains: who is that progress really reaching and who is still being left behind?
Young people play a critical role in shaping the future of global health, but too often face barriers to meaningful engagement.
Join us for the launch of the Grant Cycle 8 Youth Engagement Guideline, developed by the Y2Y Consortium and designed to support youth-led organisations in engaging with The Global Fund’s processes across Asia-Pacific, Africa, and Eastern Europe.
This webinar (previously rescheduled) will introduce the guideline, share practical tools, and feature real experiences from young leaders involved in GC8.
