‘forms of publication’ are the open book society’s new formats celebrating innovative, conceptual, and experimental publication design across print, digital, and as a collaborative practice. Evolving from the Walter Tiemann Prize (1992–2024), the programme now comprises three categories: ‘forms of printed publication’, ‘forms of digital publication’, and ‘forms of peering’. These formats expand the focus beyond typographic printed publications to include digital design and collective knowledge-making, recognising publishing as a dynamic, socially engaged discipline. This year, the @open_book_society awarded five publications: three for printed publications and two for digital publications. The recipients were selected by two independent international expert juries. The awards will be ceremonially presented on March 20. Following the ceremony, all guests are warmly invited to explore the publications in the exhibition. Bringing together printed and digital publications, the exhibition presents both shortlisted and awarded works from forms of publication 2026, as well as research questions developed within the collaborative context of the peering program. On December 13, 2025, the juries for both our digital and printed publications met at the Academy of Fine Arts Leipzig. Hosted by the active members of the open book society, the day was shaped by intense discussions, collective reflection—and a nice dinner that kept the conversations going. We’re now working on improving the application process—making it clearer, fairer, and less labor-intensive through a stronger technical framework.
