Studio Pete Fung @petefung maps the world of fictional organisations through The Directory of Unreal Institutions, exploring pseudo-institutions as a design method 🏛️ Selected for support through our Design Grant Scheme, this project documents how fictional organisations mimic the language and rituals of existing institutions to challenge societal norms and propose alternative futures. We were super happy to attend the @internationalcreativeawards and the @intl.international festival this year. And we were even more happy to receive awards, recognition, and a novelty cheque(!!!) for two projects that mean a lot to us. It was a bit surreal, and we’re really grateful to have been part of such a friendly and exciting moment :) It was really cool to see Web, Tech, and other categories getting the same attention as more traditional areas. We often feel a bit on the sidelines of the design world, so it really meant a lot to see them recognized, with a jury that had us completely starstruck! For two days, Studio F451 set up their office at the PROGRAM/ME gallery, turning the launch of their website into a live performance. The design and programming were streamed directly from the website’s URL, allowing viewers and passersby to follow every stage of the process. @othernetwork.io was recognized in the Web, Tech, and Good Cause categories. OtherNetwork is an online platform and emerging cultural institution exploring connections between independent art spaces through networks and visualizations. Its relay-based approach—covering events, essays, exhibitions, and podcasts—enriches the network, adds context, and fosters new connections.

Another OtherNetwork exhibition is opening tomorrow in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Over the past few days we’ve been moving between studios, printing shops, and morning swims. Gathering connections, stories, and collaborative paths as the exhibition comes together. It seeks to expand our understanding and to embody interdependence as a radical politics, attuned to the historical and systemic oppressions that have silenced the world. We are proud to have facilitated, through OtherNetwork, the encounter between Pivô Salvador and Beta Local. Over the past two weeks, six artists from Puerto Rico have been in Salvador developing an experimental exhibition that explores transmigration and exchange in the Caribbean–Afro-Brazilian context—through music, syncretism, and cooking. The most moving part of this project has been witnessing the conversations and connections sparked between artistic contexts that so rarely meet, and recognizing the incredible richness of practices that flourish outside the Western canon. One of our favorite websites to date: the online publication Conditions of a Necessity, created during the pandemic to bring together graduating students through a unique creative program. The website highlights exhibitions, research, and other works that emerged from these gatherings. Structured as a digital table of contents, the website mirrors the format of a book, complete with chapters and indexes. Three specialised index pages offer dynamic previews by pulling content directly from other sections of the site. A heartfelt thank you to @a.m._patricia and Egemen Demirci for their trust, and congratulations again to @dominik___busch and @kunsthallebadenbaden for such a great project!

Domitille Debret and Quentin Creuzet of studio F451 blend design and programming in their practice. They are dedicated to challenging conventions of the web and information structure. Their work explores automation, data structures, and toolmaking to push the boundaries of design. During Iterations, Domitille and Quentin will lead the '@media ' workshop, that examines how the traditional separation between mobile, tablet, and desktop has influenced web design and front-end development. Participants will explore creative CSS alternatives for a more flexible approach to responsiveness. To join, basic HTML and CSS knowledge and a laptop with a code editor are required. Later in the evening, in their talk “Control Center”, F451 will explore the digital traces left by their design and programming practice. From emails to GitHub contributions, they will systematically examine the remnants of their work, revealing insights about their creative process, from small details to broader design themes. New website for @cadetcapela , a multi-spaces art gallery, based in Paris. The website is a blend of list and image views showcasing artwork images, detailed artist biographies, and an extensive archive of exhibitions. Highlighting current and upcoming exhibitions, the website acts as a visual archive, innovation for an exploration while documenting past exhibition and events. cadet capela, founded in 2018, aims to provide a platform for both emerging talents and established artists who are often overlooked in Parisian art scenes. 11, 12, 13, 14, … For the fourth year running, we’re collaborating with our friends @spasskyfischer and @manon_bruet to create the website for the annual Festival Parallèle (@plateformeparallele ) in Marseille and Aix-en-Provence! It’s always a pleasure to discover a new variation of this identity each year, using @antoineelsensohn ’s Trainer Grotesk typeface. This year, the website plays with the interplay between the titles of the shows and the usual festival information, as well as with the discovery effect of the images. If you’re in the region at the end of the month, don’t hesitate to go and see the shows and performances, which are always of the highest quality, and look out for the posters for the 14th edition in the streets of Marseille 🏖️
