Depuis 2001, ce concours met en lumière les photographes les plus créatifs au monde. Aujourd’hui, le vote du public est ouvert jusqu’au 1er juin et chaque voix compte pour le jury. Le travail de Carolina est essentiel. À travers First Génération, elle donne à voir les parcours, les identités et les combats de femmes françaises d’ascendance ouest-africaine. First Génération, de Carolina Arantes, investiga las experiencias de las mujeres de la primera generación de francesas de ascendencia africana occidental, explorando las tensiones entre pertenencia, identidad y herencia cultural. A través de un ensayo fotográfico, archivos, documentos y testimonios personales, el proyecto retrata las dinámicas de adaptación y resistencia que enfrentan estas mujeres en el contexto francés. Este trabajo documenta no sólo la trayectoria de migración e integración, sino también los desafíos emocionales y políticos que acompañan este proceso, evidenciando cómo la historia colonial del país sigue resonando en la vida de las nuevas generaciones. En una narrativa visual que combina archivos familiares, registros de la vida cotidiana y retratos de las mujeres, la obra cuestiona la imposición de etiquetas como “segunda generación de inmigrantes”, que con frecuencia niegan la plena ciudadanía de estas mujeres en Francia, reforzando barreras simbólicas y estructurales. Al capturar los gestos, los espacios y los objetos que forman parte de la construcción de estas identidades híbridas, First Génération pone de manifiesto la complejidad del arraigo y las dinámicas de transmisión cultural, abriendo un debate sobre la pluralidad de la identidad femenina en la Francia contemporánea. Thank you @shelfie_cafe 💥 ・・・ In 2014, Carolina Arantes began First Génération, a long-term project that revolves around the first generation of French women from West Africa. In an effort to give them greater visibility, the photographer set out to meet these women. At the heart of the work, their voices run through the photographs, and the archival documents summoned echo each other and reveal an often hidden reality. In contact with them, the artist’s Brazilian traditions – marked by their own in many ways – then resurfaced in the shared past of colonization. “It gave me a broader vision of the world. I hope that this work will allow other people (especially those not concerned) to have a better understanding of our different identities and our humanism. Because times are changing.This is a committed generation that no longer accepts certain morals stemming from a colonialist vision.” These women are aware of their own value and the value of African culture in history,” she emphasizes. Happy New Year to all of us! May we reach new levels of humanity and empathy in 2024 and #stopgenocideingaza 🕊️ 2023 was the most intense year in my life. Yet I have so so much to be grateful for and celebrate in this 2023. Sharing some positive memories of this year, First Generation was in @rencontresarles as the best of “Nuit de l’année” ✨ @firstgeneration_doc book was selected both by @prixhip and @lensculture among the best of the year. Such a special return! This without saying the work exhibit in @africa.foto.fair with the amazing @aidamuluneh (this woman rocks!!) and at La Nuit du Photojournalism - thank you @pierreterdjman and @dysturb crew ! Tomba aka @fervo2k20 exhibit in @mairie14paris was organized by (the best of Brazilians in France) my beloved @autres_bresils ♥️🌱 and several prints of this work were acquired by @labnf photo collection, also with the best Labo&People in town @initiallabo @denisezanet . The waterfall bath in Amazonia was the happiest moment I had this year. Amazonia gave me another level of satisfaction in life. Although also greater fear for our planet. Thank you @thijs_biersteker for taking this picture 🌱 This very special work was done together with @unesco_mab @unesco @unescobrasil @lvmh @capelliparis @ana.catara @annigrami and so many amazing people! Grateful to collaborate to the exhibition at Unesco in Paris that followed this trip and wishing the MABs will grow strong ! La publication américaine Bustle la consacre parmi les 36 réalisatrices du monde pionnières dans leur propre pays. Ce projet est proposé par @willdmassey dans le cadre de l’exposition #Affirmaco à la @la_fab_officiel . Sabrina Fidalgo ouvrira pour BRASIL IMPREVISTO un dialogue autour de l’affirmation avec les oeuvres #firstgeneration et #Tombamento de @c_arantes (photos 2 puis 3).
