I love collaborating and imagining new worlds together with other artists. @prieste5s album release party with @soundsofnaga x @low_indigo_ ⋆.˚𓅆࿐ I have been a big admirer of Prieste5s’ talents, as an electronic musician, live-coder, and visual artist. She is one of the most exciting producers from Berlin, with a deep range that intersects ambient, techno, bass, breakbeat, grey area and more. Within a couple of years she has already established a name for herself with releases on well respected labels, such as @qeone.rec , @tra.verse , @_osmura_ , to name a few. She is visiting us straight from @parameter_sf — the most cutting edge electronic music festival on the west coast. This evening is for the lovers of dubbed-out hypnotic bass and techno, within an immersive environmental build with projections and installations. For the first time, Emrrld and ephemeral objects go back-to-back all night. Both known as some of the city’s deepest selectors, they will be moving fluidly between tempos and textures, transversing techno, dubstep, bass, half time and everything in between. This evening honours sound system music at its most immersive, exploratory, and forward-thinking edges. This night is a fundraiser for our dear friend Crystal Precious, a cornerstone of Vancouver’s underground arts and nightlife communities, who has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. A multi-disciplinary performer, organizer, and founder of platforms including Fortress, Crystal Ballroom, and Dollhouse, Crystal has spent over two decades uplifting artists across the city. All proceeds will go toward supporting Crystal. Come through for a night of deep, exploratory sound and community care. A lil recap of Obstructed View 3, the first all femme line up ˗ˏˋ ♡ ˎˊ˗ Thank you to the dancers who energized the dance floor, and the booth angels @yasmeena__k and @innenezza who slayed and went b2b on wax all night long 🪽 For the occasion, I was inspired by late 90s and 00s media player visualizers, but with a new school twist, going into my TouchDesigner archive and playing with @vidvox VDMX effects. It was also my first time VJing with multiple analog cameras too (˵ •̀ ᴗ •́ ˵ ) ✧ It was such a treat to have the visuals replicated on several CRTVs, on translucent fabric, and in the lounge area. Big shout out to @fortydollarlawnchair and Jonathan Davies for trusting me as apart of your vision that centres the dance floor — truly refreshing in this day and age. SHIFT⇧ returns on Saturday, February 7th with a live audio-visual performance and artist talk from Vancouver-based a/v artists: i+eo ⋆˚꩜｡ ⇧ i+eo ( @i__e.o_ ). Composed of IHA and ephemeral objects, i+eo is an audio-visual futurism based on the artists’ identities and experiences as queer Southeast Asian diaspora, intertwined with influences from the West Coast of Canada’s electronic and underground music scene. This project is born from the duo’s participation in MUTEK’s 2024 Incubator program, solidifying i+eo among Canada’s most promising a/v artists. i+eo debuted at MUTEK Montréal last year, where they played an incredible immersive and transportive live set that we were fortunate to witness. We’ve been excited to have them over here in Vic ever since!
