Over three days, from dusk till dawn, Amsterdam’s nightcultural and free spaces will host workshops and talks entangled in immersive experiences through sounds, visuals, and performances of urgency. Spaces of Urgency, championing artistic freedom and in solidarity with Palestine, deliberately sever ties with government funding for greater financial autonomy. Cheb Runner | DJ Set 🌀 Producer Cheb Runner is a musical hurricane rooted in Moroccan soil and exploring multiple musical landscapes. Cheb Runner represents a new sound of “in-betweenness”, nurtured by different worlds while running back & forth in time. Using first-hand sounds and recordings of his sample bank based on traditional instruments, Cheb Runner playfully mixes analogue with digital effects supported by a unique collection of synthesizers. Cheb Runner started his musical career flirting with different aliases, collectives and genres. As producer, composer and DJ, he is merging traditional and contemporary electronic music, moving from Moroccan chaabi over spiritual sounds to eclectic disco, deep techno and Dutch gabber. Cheb Runner is a resident at Ghana's Oroko Radio and a familiar face at Brussels's finest Kiosk Radio. Rabia Salfiti (he/him) | Performance | Palestine 🔺Rabia Salfiti, born in 1979 in Palestine, graduated from Wizo School of Art and Design (2014) with distinction in Photography. He acquired a diploma in Interior Design from the University of Florence in Italy. As an artist, Rabia Salfiti uses various mediums such as performance, photography, and video installations in his art practice, which often involves his own body. His work is shaped by the interest and inspection of the triad, (thesis, antithesis, and synthesis) body, mind and spirit. 📅 Rabia will perform on Thursday 18.01 at 16:00.
