🍉 How do we reclaim space for cultural resistance — here and in the homeland? What do you need that is not reaching you? What would a mutual aid structure need to look like to be genuinely useful — not one-off solidarity but a structure that keeps feeding the soil? These are the questions Julia Sabra will be bringing from Beirut into the room in Amsterdam on May 9th. Julia is a musician, composer and part of @tuneforkstudios — a sound collective founded by @faditabbal that has been shaping Beirut’s experimental and alternative scene since 2006. Through Land 01 and Land 02, two compilations of unreleased tracks, Tunefork has been building redistributive practice through music, raising funds directly for those displaced by Israeli attacks on Lebanon. On May 9th she brings that practice into the conversation. What it produced. What it could not do alone. What needs to be unearthed. What needs to be seeded towards a post-systemic infrastructure for culture. Mustafa is the General Manager of The @thefreedomtheatre , one of the most important sites of cultural resistance in Palestine. A researcher, writer, and cultural worker with deep roots in community-based practice, youth empowerment, and social engagement. Through his work he holds theatre and cultural resistance as tools for expression, dignity, and collective resilience. How do we reclaim space for cultural resistance — here and in the homeland? On 9 May TURBA تُرْبَة tends the Amsterdam soil for the first time as part of Actifest at @door_open_space , organised by @artcollectiveforpeace with @actifest.nl If you are an artist, cultural worker, organiser or practitioner — we want you in the room. We are trying to figure out together how we connect spaces and communities under siege with capacity, resources and solidarity in the diaspora. How we make that connection real and structural, not occasional. Come with your practice, your questions, your urgencies. The soil is ready. @liese_kingma is a curator, organizer, and connector of movements. Liese has spent years building spaces where art, activism, and urban change meet — from leading the FREI[T]RÄUME / @EnvisioningFreeSpace conference to co-founding Space of Urgency. At ACTIFEST, she joins with "TURBA تُرْبَة soil", an independent platform rooted in cultural resistance, centering Palestinian voices in Gaza and the diaspora. @TURBA_soil connects artists and practitioners working under siege, repression, and erasure, asking: how do we sustain culture and build new systems under these conditions? Together, they bring the Space of Urgency workshop & intervention: a space to think, feel, and act on what cultural resistance demands today. Cultural resistance doesn’t only grow through big gestures. It grows through what we pass between us. Quietly. Collectively. We need strong venues across the globe that platform Palestinian and other oppressed artists, spaces that open their doors, share their stages, and stand in solidarity not just in words but in action.
