Hello all, I’ll be teaching the Optics Series at Lista Studios on March 7 & 14 and April 18 & 25 ! @lista_studios Over four sessions, we’ll work with transparent and translucent materials found in everyday life, exploring their optical qualities through light and layering. Together, we’ll discover how ordinary materials can shift into sculptural and luminous forms. 🤍 Ask me anything if you’d like more details about the class ! Sign up link is in my bio 💌

“You can touch something that can’t be held. It can be time, it can be concepts, it can be pain.” —Shaping Of [ what escapes perception ] with Jungeun Park @enna0j Jungeun’s glass collection, what escapes perception, presented at nodes:ii, April 11 & 12 at @onassis.onx . Our Shaping Of interview series goes inside the artifact — how it’s made, what it holds, what escapes. Full video + editorial review on our Substack [ ENTER ] in the link in bio. Jungeun’s world looks into the crevices tucked away from everyday perception. She explores the banality of ephemeral moments — things we overlook, or tend to look away from in discomfort — inviting viewers to feel the sensations, and the care, that come from deep observation. Her work is a ritualistic process of translating and digesting that which is ephemeral, metaphysical, material, and eternal. nodes:ii featured a living archive of creative science sculpture, bio-art, sound, and interactive media, the program offers a rare look inside two experiments — WHITEBOX (the Lab) and BLACKBOX (the Stage) — with unreleased works and prototypes throughout. —— [ ENTER ] now has a paid subscription with a free tier still available. Supporting Artifice NYC means supporting the work — the research, the room, the people in it. Subscribe in the link in bio. Interview by @woo.yeon.kim Video by @effyinyadr3am Audio Editor @kendeng__

The exhibition <Aftermath>, which I curated and participated in, has been featured in Boston Art Review. Deep thanks to artist and writer Charlie for the beautiful writing and for being part of this process with us 🥹 And to my best friends and incredible artists... Maha, Nahom, and Carrie. It has been an honor to see your works come together and speak to each other through my vision. Seeing everything coming together in harmony made me just so happy 💌 Endless gratitude to Catherine for saying yes to my proposal and making this exhibition possible in the first place. Thank you for being with us through every step leading up to the show. Thank you to all who shared their perspectives and talents to make this possible! 📸 : Wenhan Hu Article link in bio 🤍

360,000 umbilical cords were cut today. A deer has been struck by a car and met its demise. What emerges from our hands never leaves the body. Everything we create repeatedly translates its vulnerability. Our work addresses bodies in the aftermath of events: bodies that exist after irreversible change, after conditions have already been ‘decided’. This exhibition lingers with the irreversible. It attends to bodies that are passed over and brushed aside, to lives that were never fully acknowledged as worthy of care; it remains as a state of being.  How we differentiate between bodies, deciding which deserve attention and which do not, ultimately mirrors how we evaluate and treat ourselves.  An abandoned helmet grew skin and gestated life. Glass and ceramic salvaged bodies from decay. Lanternflies crushed to death rebirthed into steel. Aftermath opens this Friday, 1/23 6-9 pm Curated by Jungeun Park (@enna0j ) Works by: Jungeun Park (@enna0j ) Carrie Kouts (@impossiblyinteresting ) Nahom Ghebredngl (@nahom.ghebredngl ) Maha Mohan (@maha.mohan ) Special thanks to: Alexandra Reintjes (@artandtheoryspam ) for writing support Hyein Shin (@shlnhyeln ) for the Korean curatorial statement Poster by Dohee Kim @doheeikm
