Response System I (The Diplomat) is a meditation on time and the individualâs relationship to complex, dynamic systems. Subtly responding to the presence of a viewer, the piece is a living mirror and place to sit in moments of contemplation.
When making eye contact with the sculpture it pauses for a brief moment before continuing on its seemingly random mechanical motion. This recognition and response loop is questions the observerâs relationship to their own set of interconnected systems (community, environment, culture) and reinforces perception as the first step in changing one.
