I present to you all my thesis for ITP, Resonance, Self.
Resonance, Self is an interactive, audio-visual installation that explores the convergence of physical, digital, and auditory domains of both the self and the experience. Through the amplification and augmentation of personal identity, Resonance, Self evokes curiosity and heightens awareness of one’s connection to their conscious experience, using synchronized audio and visual feedback to enrich the interaction.
Within the installation, a viewer’s image is transformed into an audio waveform, which is both audible and visualized through a full-room projection, lasers, and a series of analogue oscilloscopes, which are devices that display electronic signals as waveforms, helping visualize how they change over time.
The viewer’s image is sound and the viewer’s sound is image, thus allowing an audio-visual feedback effect where the image (the viewer) informs the audio (also the viewer) and vice versa.
Imagine your reflection as a combination of sound and light that continuously interacts. As you listen to your image as audio, the sound waves directly impact the visual representation on the oscilloscopes and lasers. This creates a feedback loop where your presence, your literal physical existence modifies and informs the visuals, sound and experience produced in real-time.
