“From profit to people” come join me as we start to rethink/re-member/reimagine the role of the artist in today’s world at
@bricklanejazzfestival 1st conference on Saturday 25th
With the music industry heavily designed with prioritising extraction over people, what would it look like for us to think up other models…
We’re going to be chopping up all things community, politrix, nature, liberation and how we can reimagine/re-member how we can create from a place of people/planet first...
Just because this is the scene we’ve adopted. Doesn’t mean it’s the one we have to stick with for the future…
I’m very excited to be joined by some amazing humans doing the works in different worlds and using this conversation as a means to see different perspectives and how worlds can come together:
@roxannetataei : Roxanne’s an amazing artist and friend whose artistic work explores sound as a transformative force, especially around, Sound as an archive, Collective imagination and Art as resistance.
@santiagom27 : Santi is a Colombian-born producer, musician and curator based in London and founder of the Latin music collective Bonita! His work centres on preserving Latin musical heritage while building a contemporary diasporic identity.
@toddlat : Toddla is a big g and has been sitting at the intersection of radio, culture and activism, and understands how artists can use broadcast platforms to shape political and social conversations.
@cathyrunciman : Cathy, a great friend and all round beautiful human - brings a systems perspective, exploring how the music industry can restructure itself to include environmental responsibility as a core value rather than an afterthought.
This one will be powers.
If you’re at Bricklane already next week come join the convo… if you want to come and don’t have a ticket, drop me a DM for this talk.
Love ❤️
