@jobiriccio will release “Face the Feeling” on 5/15 via @yeproc ! Co-produced by Riccio & longtime collaborators Isaiah Beard & Jesse Timm (@juicytimm ), the album marks a bold sonic evolution mirroring a deeper emotional reckoning at the core of the album. Expanding beyond the folk & country foundations of her breakthrough debut album “Whiplash”, Riccio moves toward a more electric, indie-rock-driven sound. Where “Whiplash” chronicled her coming of age & the search for escape, “Face The Feeling” finds Riccio confronting emotions she once tried to outrun - grief, rage, self-doubt, & desire - & choosing to sit fully inside the discomfort. Riccio treats each emotion as something unavoidable & illuminated, like a billboard flashing into view at full speed. Throughout the album, she finds masterful balance between extremes, indulging in the light & the dark, the subtle & the direct, the ecstatic highs & the mournful lows. “You have to chase what moves you, what’s exciting you,” the Nashville-via-Colorado musician says. For Riccio’s sublime debut album, “Whiplash”, that meant exploring growing up & coming of age, hoping to find a route away from chaos & pain. With "Face the Feeling" she courageously wades into the uncomfortability & luxuriates in the catharsis, finding a remarkable strength in leaning into the power of change rather than resisting it. In addition to the shifting inspiration, Riccio reaches beyond folk & country to find a new, more electric path through emotionally unguarded terrain. By merging the introspective storytelling of Americana with the restless pulse of indie rock, she reaches a deeper strength than those filling her already impressive résumé. With “Face the Feeling”, she pushes beyond expectation towards her most confident & expansive work to date. “I wanted to create a place - for myself and for others - to face the good, bad, & ugly feelings,” Riccio says. “Even when the noise of the world gets overwhelming.” 🎧 Pre-save https://jobiriccio.lnk.to/FaceTheFeeling

Americana/Outlaw Country powerhouse @recklesskelly96 takes the road less traveled with “Alternate Routes”, out 5/15! More than a retrospective, “Alternate Routes” is both a reclaiming & a reflection. It's about taking back songs that have traveled with them & their fans for decades, capturing the road-tested versions audiences have come to love from years of live shows. “These songs have been part of our lives, & our fans’ lives, for decades,” says @codybraunmusic . “But like many of the artists who came up when we did, we didn’t own the original recordings. Re-recording them was our way of taking a little bit of that story back. Not rewriting history, just making sure the future of these songs lives in the hands of the people who created them.” For the band, the issue goes beyond nostalgia. Like many artists of their era, Reckless Kelly watched their original masters change hands over the years, leaving them with little control over how those recordings could be used, reissued, or revisited. Re-recording the songs became the clearest way to regain artistic control & create new versions that directly benefit the people who made them. “We’ve watched artists like Taylor Swift & John Fogerty fight to reclaim their work, & it’s been inspiring,” Braun continues. “It reminds you that songs aren’t just products, they’re your memories, your years on the road, your life’s work. The beautiful part is that fans play a role in this. Every time someone streams this version or buys this record, they’re helping us own our music & protect it for the long haul.” Recorded at @arlynstudios in Austin, “Alternate Routes” is not about looking backward. It’s about documenting how these songs have grown over time. The title speaks to the spirit of the album itself, suggesting another way through familiar terrain, a parallel path that honors where Reckless Kelly has been while opening the door to what comes next. For fans, “Alternate Routes” offers more than a return to favorite songs. It’s a chance to hear Reckless Kelly at full strength, revisiting the music that helped define the band while taking meaningful control of its future! Pre-save 🎧 https://vyd.co/Alternate

WELCOME TO INDIA RAMEY'S VILLAIN ERA! After the success of her fiery 2024 LP, “Baptized By The Blaze”, Nashville outlaw siren & DittyTV Concert Series Alum @indiarameymusic is back with “Villain Era”, out 5/8 via @copacorecords / @blueelan ! While “Baptized By The Blaze “was the story of Ramey’s journey through the fire, a harrowing passage toward healing & empowerment, “Villain Era” is a eulogy for the death of the good girl & a middle finger to anyone who endeavors to tell Ramey, or women in general, how to behave. It’s a full-on rebellion, drawing a line in the sand in defense of autonomy & authenticity on a personal & collective level from one of country music’s fiercest truth-tellers. Amid a rising tide of toxic media moguls & tone-deaf politicians who seek to vilify women & cancel their rights, the album goes full throttle against the current. In a time where authenticity & reality are in danger of being deleted by AI, “Villain Era” keeps a death grip on what's real, both sonically & lyrically. “This album is the ‘healed’ me,” Ramey says. “I didn’t know how to have boundaries because I was such a people pleaser. When you live your life that way, you lose sight of who you really are. I’ve spent the last few years finding my authentic self, reclaiming my identity.” Armed with that conviction & a new batch of songs, Ramey left the South for the first time to record in Los Angeles with 2-time Grammy-nominated producer @ericcorne . Together, they built a soundscape as cinematic as it is cathartic. Ramey, whose fans have taken to calling her “The Woman In Black” & “the Wednesday Addams of country music,” told Corne she wanted the album to sound like Johnny Cash & Loretta Lynn had risen from the grave to score a Quentin Tarantino film. The result ~ 10 spaghetti western–meets–honky tonk vignettes, penned solely by Ramey, laced with grit, gallows humor, & emotional precision. With "Villain Era", India Ramey doesn’t ask for permission - she claims her territory, laughs loudly, & dares anyone to underestimate her. “If my boundaries offend you,” Ramey says, “I’ll happily play the villain in that story.” Pre-save 🎧 /collections/i

@hissgoldenmessenger has released his brand-new album! “I'm People” is OUT NOW via @chrysalisrecs ! “I’m People” was written in New Mexico, California, & North Carolina, co-produced by Taylor & Josh Kaufman, engineered by Chris Boerner & Gillian Pelkonen, & mixed & mastered by D. James Goodwin. The album was recorded at Dreamland, a decommissioned church outside of Woodstock, NY & features a host of special guests ~ Bruce Hornsby, Sam Beam (Iron & Wine), Marcus King, Sara Watkins, Amy Helm, Matt Douglas, Eric D. Johnson, & Griff and Taylor Goldsmith. (Dawes) “I wanted the record to feel the way that upstate place feels, deep in the pocket, a place of poetry, earth and sky & mountains. A place where a lot of my favorite music has come from,” Taylor comments. The songs on "I'm People" are about running towards and away from things, about reasonable & realistic hope & expectations, about having babies, getting older, love & lust & luck & music. They are songs about solitude & heartbreak and poverty of the spirit, & maybe community as some kind of antidote for these particular types of sicknesses. Shedding old skin. Mystery as a beautiful necessity. Hiss Golden Messenger is the long-running musical project led by North Carolina-based singer, songwriter & producer M.C. Taylor. Emerging from the Americana folk and roots tradition, the project has evolved over more than a decade into one of the most respected voices in contemporary Americana – blending multiple genres with classic singer-songwriter influences & deeply personal, socially reflective songwriting. Taylor says “'I'm People' is an intensely human record, & so one that needed to feel immediate, vulnerable, & full of spirit; something you could touch, sing along to, dance with, know about, recognize, relate. I know what the record is to me & I bet it's not so dissimilar from what it's about to you, at least in the broad strokes: The heartbreak & exhilaration, the absolute black comedy of being a person on this razor's edge, this lion’s jaw, that is America circa 2025. What other choice do we have than to be hopeful?” Purchase / stream 🎧/imp.OPR

🪩 RIVERBEAT ARTIST SPOTLIGHT ~ ST. VINCENT 🪩 Sunday 5/3 . 7:30-8:45, Orion Stage Tonight a bona fide indie rock icon hits the @riverbeatfest stage! With her eloquent songwriting & inventive guitar playing, @st_vincent , born Annie Clark ,excels at subverting rock & pop conventions. Renowned for her eccentrically captivating stage presence & bold, genre-bending songwriting, she has won SIX Grammy Awards recognizing her envelope-pushing artistry Her moniker, a Nick Cave reference, St. Vincent is best described as living between the “intersection of accessible & lunatic”. Her sense of style is unrestricted by specific rock subgenre & set free by the complex contrasts of heavy, deep instrumental entwining with Clark’s angelic vocals. Both a gifted singer-songwriter & virtuoso guitarist, St. Vincent honed her craft during stints with The Polyphonic Spree & Sufjan Stevens' backing band before becoming the darling of the art-rock crowd thanks to a string of albums which combined forward-thinking production with beautifully-crafted melodies & emotionally complex themes. A Berklee School of Music student whose love of Nirvana and Soundgarden inspired her to learn guitar, she introduced her genre-bending approach on 2007's "Marry Me" a literate, affecting fusion of indie, rock, electronic, & jazz. Clark made her chart debut with the complex storytelling of 2009's "Actor". She became the first solo female artist to win the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Album in 20 years with 2014's icy, witty "St. Vincent"; & cracked the Billboard Top Ten with the anti-pop of 2017's Grammy-winning "MASSEDUCTION". She released a collaborative album with David Byrne in 2012 titled "Love This Giant”. St. Vincent made her first guitar out of rubber bands & cardboard at age 5. In 2016 debuted a signature guitar with Ernie Ball Music Man. Her guitar-playing has been praised for its melodic style and use of distortion, and she has been listed among the best guitarists of the 21st century. A deeply personal spiritual rumination unlike anything in the Mobile, AL-based rock band’s previous body of work, the track swiftly builds from a few stirring notes on the organ into a foot-stomping singalong, complete with wall-shaking guitar riffs & a backing gospel choir led by 3x GRAMMY® Award-winning musician Shannon Sanders (Jonny Lang, India.Arie, Fisk Jubilee Singers). Stream “Demons in Your Choir” 🎹https://redclaystrays.lnk.to/DemonsInYou A collection of 11 rollicking, soul-searching songs that can spill out of dance halls on Saturday night & fill church steeples on Sunday morning in equal measure, “Grateful” marks the latest chapter in The Red Clay Strays’ inspiring journey from their hometown of Mobile, AL, to packing arenas around the world with audiences ready to partake in an old-school roots-rock revival. The Red Clay Strays – Brandon Coleman (lead vocals, guitar), Drew Nix (guitar and vocals), Zach Rishel (guitar), Andrew Bishop (bass), John Hall (drums), bonded as young, working-class men raised on Lynyrd Skynyrd riffs. Anchored by Coleman, whose voice channels country gold & old-school rock ‘n’ roll soul, the Strays cut their teeth with gigs on sticky barroom floors, fusing Southern rock with an outlaw stance, anchoring their swagger with a heavy dose of soul & the sharp, brawny literary bent of Red Dirt country. With “Grateful”, they turn survival into jubilation – a celebration of faith, a soundtrack to gratitude, & a clear-eyed reflection of the road traveled along the way. While always remaining grateful!
