Saw Sugar for first time since 1994 last night. Even better than back then. Ferocious and cathartic. A joyous and beautiful Rock&Roll show. Ready to do it all again tonight. @sugarcopperblue @bobmouldmusic @turfballer @websterhall

Breathtakingly beautiful show last night. @waxa_katie & @mjlenderman are each powerhouse great individually, but together… holy cow, what a stunning show. Such lovely folks too. Truly great to be alive. @colincroom @bradleywcook If they come to your town and you possibly can, GO!!!

2 of my very favorite living authors have just released new books. I can’t wait to read both of these. Support independent booksellers and living authors. @tom_junod @the_delines

Happy Birthday Wes Freed. This was the last time that I got to hang out with my dear friend and brother in Rock. I spent the afternoon with Wes and his lovely partner in crime Jackie at their place in Richmond. It was a wonderful day that I will always treasure. Wes would have been 62 today (born one month and one day after me). Our friendship lasted one day short of 25 years and his artwork will live on as a part of everything we do for way longer than any of us will survive. Much love to Jackie! Eternal love for Cecil McCobb!

2 wonderful nights seeing and hanging with my favorite band. @wednesday_gurl kicks so much on their records and even more live. Loved the opener @gougeawayfl very much also and look forward to seeing them again. Thanks to all of Wednesday band and crew for the exceptional hospitality. Thanks to @revolutionhall for your awesomeness. Anyone saying Rock&Roll is dead needs to go see this show to know that statement is bullshit. They are the real deal and it’s never been better.

Tonight I got reminded why I fell in love with Rock&Roll in the first place. Left the house pretty worn out from very busy day and was lifted and set right by an absolutely fantastic set by my favorite band. @wednesday_gurl just gets better and better all the time. Tonight they showed us all how it’s done. Great opening set from Gouge Away (from Portland). Another great night of music @revolutionhall

When I was 15, I met Knight Champion. He goes by Jasper now (both are real names). After a bumpy first meeting, we became very close friends and still are 47 years later. I spent countless nights staying with the Champions who basically treated me like part of the family. Inight’s parents Betty & Jap and his sister’s Didi & Brantley and younger brother Teddy all endured endless teenaged shenanigans from all of us. The second verse of my song Let There Be Rock, details one particularly drunken escapade when Knight’s sister Didi prevented me from drowning in their toilet. Jap passed away a long time ago, too young for sure. Betty lived 87 years, funny and sharp as a tack to the end. Her health didn’t begin failing until very recently and she passed away this morning. She lived a wonderful life and will be missed forever by all of us that knew and loved her. Sending love and condolences to Jasper, Didi, Brantley Teddy and the rest of their beautiful extended family. True friends of are a big part of what makes this life worth living. Photo is of Jasper and Betty celebrating Easter in 2023 at the Waldorf Astoria in Washington DC.

Saw an absolutely spellbinding set from @the_delines last night @polarishallpdx Willy Vlautin is one of my very favorite writers in the world and is also a fantastic musician. Their new album is the finest yet and last night’s show was stunning and hauntingly beautiful. One of my absolute favorite bands right now.
