WELCOME TO INDIA RAMEY'S VILLAIN ERA!
After the success of her fiery 2024 LP, āBaptized By The Blazeā, Nashville outlaw siren & DittyTV Concert Series Alum
@indiarameymusic is back with āVillain Eraā, out 5/8 via
@copacorecords /
@blueelan !
While āBaptized By The Blaze āwas the story of Rameyās journey through the fire, a harrowing passage toward healing & empowerment, āVillain Eraā is a eulogy for the death of the good girl & a middle finger to anyone who endeavors to tell Ramey, or women in general, how to behave.
Itās a full-on rebellion, drawing a line in the sand in defense of autonomy & authenticity on a personal & collective level from one of country musicās fiercest truth-tellers.
Amid a rising tide of toxic media moguls & tone-deaf politicians who seek to vilify women & cancel their rights, the album goes full throttle against the current. In a time where authenticity & reality are in danger of being deleted by AI, āVillain Eraā keeps a death grip on what's real, both sonically & lyrically.
āThis album is the āhealedā me,ā Ramey says. āI didnāt know how to have boundaries because I was such a people pleaser. When you live your life that way, you lose sight of who you really are. Iāve spent the last few years finding my authentic self, reclaiming my identity.ā
Armed with that conviction & a new batch of songs, Ramey left the South for the first time to record in Los Angeles with 2-time Grammy-nominated producer
@ericcorne .
Together, they built a soundscape as cinematic as it is cathartic.
Ramey, whose fans have taken to calling her āThe Woman In Blackā & āthe Wednesday Addams of country music,ā told Corne she wanted the album to sound like Johnny Cash & Loretta Lynn had risen from the grave to score a Quentin Tarantino film.
The result ~ 10 spaghetti westernāmeetsāhonky tonk vignettes, penned solely by Ramey, laced with grit, gallows humor, & emotional precision.
With "Villain Era", India Ramey doesnāt ask for permission - she claims her territory, laughs loudly, & dares anyone to underestimate her. āIf my boundaries offend you,ā Ramey says, āIāll happily play the villain in that story.ā
