Skopje, April 2026. The ASSEMBLE team gathered at the @otm.network Cultural Mobility Forum - and it was the moment the partnership truly came alive in person. Over two days, we joined organisations, researchers and advocates working at the intersection of displacement, mobility and culture. The conversations were real and urgent: from visa barriers and emergency support to what long-term integration in a new cultural ecosystem actually looks like - and who gets to define it. Our partners @d6_eu_ and @movartists shared their experience building safe and supportive environments for at-risk and displaced arts professionals - from emergency hosting through to sustained creative practice across borders. At the Long Table "Safe Havens: Artist Residencies in Turbulent Times", the questions went deeper: who controls the invitation? How do we better protect artist mobility? What more can the cultural sector actually do? At the Long Table "Mobility Justice - Invisible No More", the room asked who remains invisible in cultural mobility systems - and why. It was also the moment we introduced ASSEMBLE to the At-Risk and Displaced Artists Working Group - and held our first in-person partner meeting as a full team. And soon - our Fellows. ASSEMBLE is an international cultural project exploring the climate emergency at the intersection of involuntary migration, displacement, conflict and ecological decline. Funded by the European Union, ASSEMBLE is realised through a partnership between @d6_eu_ (CY), @congress.of.cultural.activists (UA), @movartists (ES) and the international mobility network @otm.network , with associated partners @larnaka2030 (CY), @d6culture (UK) and @atriskartists (FR). #AssembleEurope #MobilityForum #ArtistMobility #DisplacedArtists #MobilityJustice #CulturalMobility #CreativeEurope

A weekend of encounters, processes, and shared reflections 🌿
Exhibition opening weekend in Athens (April 24–26) Exhibition #1 (Athens) unfolded through presentations, walks, and shared practices connecting research, ecological thinking, and collective processes. At NTUA, Annalisa Zegna and Garance Maurer presented their research, followed by an introduction to the MATCH project by Nicholas Anastasopoulos. The program continued with a walk along the Pikrodafni stream and a field visit to Mount Parnitha as part of the Pyroscapes research. At Duncan Dance Centre, discussions and presentations reflected on the ecology of the garden and embodied approaches to perception, with contributions by Annalisa Zegna, Garance Maurer and Vitoria Kotsalou. Workshops with plant-based inks and clay took place over the weekend, alongside a ceramic firing process that culminated in the collective excavation of the works. An ongoing weaving practice continues each Sunday, gradually building a shared textile archive of the project. 🌿 This weekend in Nicosia! We are happy to remind you of the opening of EXHIBITION #2 within the MATCH project, taking place at the Gardens of the Future, Nicosia, on 25 April 2026. The exhibition presents the works developed during the residencies of Christina Zampoulaki and Caterina Miralles, who explored land, water systems, and ecological transformation through interconnected artistic practices. Working between the Gardens of the Future and the former Skouriotissa copper mine, their projects reflect on extraction, memory, and the ways we relate to land today. Through installations, mapping, and material experimentation, their works— “Earth-bound Exercises” and “Margins of Definition” —approach land as a living system shaped by care, history, and human intervention, opening questions around responsibility and environmental change. 📍 Gardens of the Future, Nicosia 📅 Opening: 25 April 2026, 5:00 pm – 10:00 pm 🕚 Guided tour: 26 April 2026, 11:00 am – 1:00 pm 📆 Exhibition open: 27 April – 28 May (Thursdays and by appointment) Find out more at matchproject.eu Project partners: @mapadasideias @d6_eu_ @archntua @bjcem_aisbl @frichelabelledemai Local partners: @deltapiproductions @k2izmir @laescocesabcn Co-funded by @creative.eu #matchproject #nicosia #exhibition #CreativeEurope

📢 🎧 The third CDCD podcast is now online! “Capacity Building 3: Gender” is now available on the project website - link in bio 🔗 This episode brings together key insights from our third capacity-building workshop, held in Barcelona in July 2025, focusing on gender and its intersections with colonialism within the artistic and cultural sector. Starting from the understanding that decolonization requires a radical shift away from Eurocentric narratives, the discussion explores how gender dynamics are shaped by colonial legacies and systemic inequalities. Contributors reflect on the body as a site of care and resistance, the role of feminist, Afro-feminist, and community-rooted practices in fostering inclusion, and the importance of recognizing the structural conditions that exclude those who do not conform to dominant narratives. This podcast is part of a series exploring the main themes of our workshops — from participation and environment to gender and social inclusion — and how they critically engage with colonial legacies. Speakers: Mercedes Giovinazzo (BJCEM), Odile Tevie (Nubuke Foundation, Ghana), Marta Vergonyós (La Bonne), Sofía Pineda (Sindillar-Sindihogar, Spain), Lais Andrade (Artist, Portugal), Gloria Oyarzabal (Artist, Spain), Rashida Resario (Ethics advisory team), Dana Hawwash (Ethics advisory team), Dani Negri (Invited textile artist & activist). 🌿 EXHIBITION #2 | NICOSIA 🌿 The MATCH journey continues in Nicosia with the second exhibition, which will take place at the Gardens of the Future from 25 April to 28 May 2026. As part of their residency, artists Christina Zampoulaki and Caterina Miralles opened their studio to the public, sharing an insight into their ongoing research and collaborative process. Their work brings together “Earth-bound Exercises” and “Margins of Definition”, two interconnected projects exploring how we relate to land shaped by extraction, colonial histories, and ecological transformation. Working between the Gardens of the Future and the landscape of the former Skouriotissa copper mine, the artists developed a practice grounded in attentiveness, care, and presence. Through fieldwork, mapping, water systems, and material experimentation, land emerges as a living system—holding memory and inviting new ways of knowing. Christina Zampoulaki’s residency focused on the garden as a hybrid water system, where plants and human interventions form networks of collection, storage, and redistribution. Her work includes material experiments and a cyanotype zine tracing water as a shared, uneven system shaped by care and scarcity. Caterina Miralles developed Margins of Definition during her residency in Nicosia, combining audiovisual installation and a permanent water collection structure in the garden. The project explores how land is defined through mapping, borders, and systems of control across different scales, from infrastructures to micro-ecologies. 📍 Gardens of the Future, Nicosia 📅 Opening: 25 April 2026, 17:00–22:00 🕚 Guided tour: 26 April 2026, 11:00–13:00 📆 Exhibition open: 27 April – 28 May (Thursdays and by appointment) Find out more at matchproject.eu Project partners: @mapadasideias @d6_eu_ @archntua @bjcem_aisbl @frichelabelledemai Local partners: @deltapiproductions @k2izmir @laescocesabcn Co-funded by @creative.eu #matchproject #nicosia #exhibition #CreativeEurope

🌿 EXHIBITION #1 | ATHENS 🌿 Within the framework of the MATCH project, a series of five local exhibitions unfolds between April and November 2026, following the post-production phase of the artistic residencies. These exhibitions share the works developed by participating artists across the Mediterranean, opening spaces for reflection, exchange, and collective encounter. We are happy to announce the first exhibition in Athens, taking place at the Duncan Dance Centre from 24–26 April 2026.
