National Constitution Center! With the celebration of America's 250th underway, we've made sure our students are building on their curiosity about this current event to take part in travel and field learning experiences to enrich their understanding of our country's history, our founding, the novel aspects of our founding documents, the compelling stories of the people who lived during these times. This year already we visited Charles Pinckney National Historic Site in Mount Pleasant (South Carolina's "Forgotten Founder" who contributed to America's Constitution) and toured Fort Moultrie National Historical Park to learn from guides the full story of the 1776 Battle of Sullivan's Island. The National Constitution Center is a comprehensive site for the community to learn, and it lies opposite the long green from Independence Hall. Our Middle School students enjoyed the spirited live & multimedia presentation "Freedom Rising" to start our adventure here. They were intrigued because they had heard about and seen photos from the Upper School's visit here as part of their NJ & Philadelphia trip from two years ago. They also enjoyed Founders Hall, the exhibit about the three Reconstruction Amendments, the flag gallery, and the thorough overview of the passage of the 19th Amendment. This month's week-long trip to Pennsylvania included many parts for our students to see and experience for themselves these stories -- Valley Forge National Historical Park, Museum of the American Revolution, Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, and more. This kind of immersive learning is what makes University School of the Lowcountry special. Watching students step into a new environment, engage with people whose daily lives differ from their own, and reflect on what they learned is exactly why we travel. Each week-long Middle School trip is distinct each year, and the last four were to AL, FL, GA, and VA. Each year, students will meet with 30+ guest speakers for insights into various topics and careers, take part in 30+ experiential learning trips, and contribute 50+ hours of service to know and uplift the community -- all during the school day. The World is Our Classroom!

Celebrating Presidents Day where our nation was born 🇺🇸✨ Grateful to represent our commonwealth during this monumental year in our nation’s history. I am proud to live in the state where our nation was founded! As we celebrate 250th year, it’s time to reflect on the values of this nation and the goals our founding fathers were working towards: Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness 🤍 #victoriavespico #missamerica #lifelibertyandthepursuitofhappiness #presidentsday #america250pa

Our Undergraduate Humanities Forum visited the National Constitution Center on Friday and got to see the new America's Founding exhibit, which focuses on the colonies' tensions with Great Britain through the drafting, ratification, and adoption of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Thank you for the tour!

It’s Constitution Day! On this day in 1787, delegates to the Constitutional Convention signed the U.S. Constitution into law. You can meet their life-size statues at @constitutionctr in Philadelphia 🇺🇸

If Hamilton had a favorite color, it’d be money green. 💸💚
Treasury power. New York energy. Immigrant grit. All wrapped up in a look inspired by his bigger-than-Broadway story. Constitution Week fits >>> textbook paragraphs. 💬 Comment FIT for a link to every look in this series.
Huge thanks to National Constitution Center (@constitutionctr ) for inspiring these Constitution Week vibes; go see them in Philly or dive into their online resources if you can’t make the trip. #ConstitutionWeek #HamiltonStyle #FoundingFit #HistoryMeetsStyle #HistoryTeacherLife #HamiltonVibes #HistoryReframed #TeachingWithStyle #HistoryUnfolded #ModernHistory
