Kalpana Chawla broke ~atmospheres 🚀 🪐 as the first Indian-American to travel to space. Coming from a small town in India, she dreamed of being an astronaut. As a NASA astronaut, she was assigned to the Columbia shuttle and her responsibilities included being the prime robotic arm operator and conducting research on low gravity. Though her life was tragically cut short in the 2003 Columbia disaster, her legacy continues to be honored by a 2020 NASA commercial spacecraft launched in her name, the science she helped advance, and the generations she inspired. #pbs #astronaut #aapiheritagemonth #womeninstem

65.3 percent of ~2,900,000 AANHPIs who qualify for mental health needs do not receive treatment. Some barriers this community faces are language access with limited providers, stigmas within the community towards mental health, and lack of knowledge of resources and ongoing support. This day was enacted to raise awareness and improve access to quality mental health care for AANHPI communities. #aanhpi #aapiheritagemonth #aapi #pbs #mentalhealth
